Oh dear, I saw a YT unboxing that shows several moulded-on details (cockpit, underwing radiators) that I would not expect on a 1:32 kit at this price point. Really disappointing.

Must have been someone without a HD camera - the moulded on details are as good or better (particularly the seat and cockpit frames) as the Tamiya 1/32 Spitfires. The external detail is all correct with lapped panels, raised rivets where appropriate and flushed and smoothed over leading edge wings. There's no debate about the quality of the detail included in the kit, IMO....check out my review if you don't think so.... Youtube Video

Having watched Chris' review and trial assembly, I'd have to agree that this looks remarkably good. 1/32 is NOT my scale but this is on my list now. Also, might order just to help support the ex-WNW crew.

Great review, Chris! 👍
But I'm not totally convinced with the Kotare. I do like the "lack" of rivet detail, it shows a great attention to...detail. But I think it's difficult to mould cylindrical details on to a flat surface, and the oxygen tanks, for example, don't seem to have the same 3D-ness of the Tamiya. Also, moulded detail is a bugger to paint. Not a problem if you habitually build everything before painting, but my painting skills are not that fine, so I tend to pre-paint a lot of things before assembly. Just horses for courses, I guess.
BTW, I'm with you on engines. I only build them if they cannot be hidden or the minimum need to hold a prop shaft. Same with full interior armour. After your first, you never want to do it again!

Also note Kotare is a much smaller company with iirc like 8 employees, this is their first model.
