B-17F-105-BO serial 42-30487 XR-F “Torchy 3” assigned to 100th BG, 349 BS as flown by Lead crew on the November 16, 1943 mission to bomb the heavy-water production plant at Rjuken, Norway.
My uncle was Group Navigator for the "Bloody Hundredth" and lead navigator, with the Roane Crew, on this historic mission.
Decals were printed at home or cut from printed stencils. Minor mods to the kit include smash-molded astrodome, antenna mast from brass rod and miscellaneous improvements to interior (note yellow O2 cylinders aft of the flight deck and nav charts on my uncle's table).
