Interesting subject! About the British fleet planes I love the dark gray: depending on the angle and the light, sometimes it seems more bluish.
I notice this in the profile picture, while in the top side picture it seems just gray... I've been wondering for some times how to achieve this effect in a model (I've got a sea harrier gr1 in the queue). I definitely accept suggestions...

I personally think.its different light temperature that does it if that makes sense?

Oh, I watched this cheapest kit, but did not dare to buy it. There's too much to redo, starting with the chassis niches and cockpit. In any case, good luck to you! I will be following your project with great interest!
