Arctic decals offer a very nice masking set but in scale 1:72 only.

But you might ask Mika whether he can offer them in 1:48 too. The big advantage are the masks for the prominent frames of the Simoun which are not easy to replicate in a clean manner.

@Erik: the plane became known to a greater audience as Antoine de St. Exupery attempted a few record flights in it. He crashed during one flight in the desert and it is said that he got the inspiration for The Little Prince there.

Good morning Lode, how are you? I suppose you mean Bernhard instead Roland? Each "round" corner consist in fact 3 cutted edges: 45*, 22,5* and 67,5*. Because it the size of the radius it's not visible.

Thank you for the praise and the nice words 🙂🙂🙂 I am particularly pleased because it was a „quick project" and almost out of the box. By the way: did anyone notice that the color has a slight metallic effect?

Hi Bernhard, Very nice build, especially for a quick one, and a nice indication of the progress made by Dora Wings on their recent kits.
About the color, the metallic effect is very toned down, I thought it was semi-matt. Did you consider doing a gloss finish to approximate the finish on the museum aircraft ?

Many years ago I learned a lot from a friend about colours and photography. He explained to me that snow white and deep black are „out of place" on models. In the following years I have had the experience that high gloss painted small models of aircraft look especially like toys.
So this time too it was my intention to paint the model of the Caudron only semi gloss.
Apart from that, I think that very shiny color in natura loses shininess very quickly when exposed to the weather.

That makes sense, and of course, the way your photos appear on my screen implies a lot of intermediary steps that make it difficultto interpret the real finish of your kit.
I will definitely build this kit one day. Thanks for confirming that for me ! 😉
