Model making is not rocket science.... well, sometimes it is! Quietly, this most welcome model managed to get built as one of my "side projects". It is not elaborate per se, but it does require a lot of attention in some details. Especially the purpose of all the real effort, the small Explorer I probe at the top of the four-stage rocket, needs a lot of attention as a model. For example, applying the decals for the black and white stripes is already a challenge given the dwarf-like size, and drilling the four holes to accommodate the radio antennas made of "invisible thread" requires precision. Horizon Models has put really high quality plastic parts and an etched parts board in the sturdy box; I am already looking forward to the small series of manned and unmanned rockets made possible by this manufacturer. In this sense: per ardua ad astra!
