you often see very different approaches on these, like most make the edges black or a different color, cut them close to the borders and then sand em flush on a large sheet of grinding paper. Here you seem to have cut most of the "flesh" off, how do you keep track of the sanding, or is that just, dryfitting, dryfitting and more dryfitting...

I tried to "score" along the part at an angle to minimize sanding. I have not started the sanding part yet but I have set up my 'Sanding Board' - a 5 inch x 7 inch piece of cheap photo frame glass, with the edges taped, that has itself been taped to a small plastic cutting board. On the glass I have used Rubber Cement to affix a sheet of 280 grit wet & dry sanding film. I will post a photo when it dries - the whole thing is under several large books so that it dries flat. 🙂
