Diorama Buildings, Equipment & More....
This is a collection of all the diorama kit buildings I have in the stash of which most of these will be going onto my Hoton-Stamford Airport, Wymswold Railway Junction diorama/layout.
A basic summary is I want an airport diorama in 1/72 scale for a number of reasons, one being before I fell Ill I used to work on the Ramp at East Midlands Airport as a Ramp Rat(baggage handler, general ground support staff) and this is my way of looking back at the good memories and also its to take photos of mainly my 1/72 passenger aircraft and on the odd occasion military with Airshows, HHrA and other things.
The Layout will be OO gauge wgich is 1/76 scale and it will be integrated into the main entrance section of the Airport diorama, there will be a signal box with a signal gantry, water tower, engine shed, coal bunkers, a platform which will have a kiosk and ticket desk with a canopy but I'm still looking for a small station building to buy to complete the look.
There will be a level crossing in around the middle connecting the main airport road to the rest of the layout.
There will be a Terminal building which will be a converted Airfix Control Tower combined with Gaugemaster's rather nice Terminal Building, Im going to use the Air Traffic Control Tower section on the Airfix building to make it look more modern and attach the GaugemasterTerminal onto the side to increase the size of the general terminal building.
The Revell Hardened Aircraft Shelter and GPM's Hardened Aircraft Shelter will be part of HHrA's newly planned built at their new home at former RAF Cottesmore.
There will be a Flight School which will house their light aircraft inside the Gaugemaster Hanger.
The WWII Hanger will be painted up to a modern day standard and used to house a selection of StarJets Aviation's Buisness Jets.
HHrA (Hawker Harrier Aviation Ltd) will have several buildings.
The main one will be a giant Type C exRAF Hanger.
Others include a Tie-Down engine test Bay, 3 Nissen Huts, a Small Logistics Building and a Radio Communications Tower.
The back story to both Diorama & Layout is Hoton-Radford is a very new regional Airport located near Loughborough on the old ex RAF Wymswold air base.
It will have a big connection with the Great Central Railway which is a heritage Railway which operate 99% Steam Locomotives.
