Thanky ou Gentlemen...much appreciated... In my opinion it is a very elegant Design for it's size... And if Hasegawa or someone else would do a new moulded Rita.... I woul surely give it another try... Without the sanding and rescribing and modern Clearparts of course..

Great build of a seldom seen plane, I really like the outcome!

Dave Flitton
Massive! Beautiful! Where do you put it?
 21 September 2018, 22:10
Daniel Klink
Hi, thank you Guys much appreciated...
@Roland I like the outcome too, although i shortened a lot especially the rescribing of the panellines.
It should have been ten times more on the plane and less deep and wide...
But the sanding and filling took nearly all of my mojo with this one 🙂

@Dave it has a good place in a wooden Showcase in my Mancave

The chipped paint effect is fascinating. Do you recommend painting on the chipped paint effect, or going for some more elaborate way of adding that? I know Vallejo has some special stuff for creating a chipped effect, but heh I haven't tried this yet myself. Seems easier in many cases to just gently paint on the silver/alu color.

Very nice build. Base is awesome and makes the model really stand out.

Hi Treehugger, First thanks for your kind words. I use a mix up of techniques. For bigger areas and spots i use Vallejos chipping medium over aiframe silver or aluminium before the final coat of colour. For the finer lines and scratches along the panellines or the canopys, antennas and fragile parts i use the very good and effective "Prismacolour" Premier Argent pen. number PC949 (big mine) and 753 (thin mine) on a matt colour surface afterwards.
It wont be washes away if you use acrylic clear cota for the finish. But keep in mind they do not work that good on glossy surfaces
Cheers Daniel

Daniel, amazing build of an indeed beautiful plane. Also admiring your diarama.
Many years ago I build this G8N myself and still remember the many hours of masking all the windows ...
Personally I hope for a new H6K Mavis.

Many thanks Paul 👍 Yes the Clear Parts of this kit are difficult to handle. Even for such an old form they are way to thick and shapeless. It is a pity that Falcon and co never made a good Vac alternative.
But there will be no new "Rita" coming along in this scale in the next decade i guess so we have to deal with what is there. 🙂
What really messes me up that none of the big japanese kit producers is going for a Sally in 72nd scale.
That was a plane widely used and it was the Backbone of the IJA Bomberforces nearly till the end.

DEAD Design
Outstanding Renzan with dio. Must have been a lot of patience to re-scribe this beast.
 21 October 2018, 20:31
Daniel Klink
Thanks Dead, much appreciated 👍 I resscribed only 50% of the original panels.. Didn't have enough patience after the sanding orgy.
That was the worst part of the built. next to the masking job for the canopies.

Very cool! I really like the bigger japanese birds and this one is perfectly executed 🙂

Album info

Build OOB and scratch except for the exhausts by Quickboost.

Sanded all the rivets an rescribed panels ( I overdid it, remembered the good old Matchbox days🙂 )

Fun built..but it is an old Horse from the 60's.
Especially the nearly nonvisible Frames on the clearparts were a problem while masking. The result is semi-satisfying.
Hope you like it
