First pictures of a "small" project that I already quite appreciate as a welcome variation. Fly's small model of a truly "big" sailor in terms of baknntity and spread is truly not a champion of detail, but it represents the "baby" well. On the outside, I find details and structures better than in the cockpit; I am already curious how the little sailor will look in the attractive Brazilian colours!

Feel very welcome! In 1:72? Pretty small, even in 1:48.... 🙂

Haha, Roland continues to build my stash - only ten times as fast and in the 'wrong' scale. Of course I gotta follow this one too.

I am very pleased about your interest - you work marvels on the "right" scale, Michael!

Now it's time for the next step: the assembly went quickly - according to the small number of parts - but what took some time was the application of the delicate adhesive foils, which are supposed to distinguish the covered parts from the wooden parts. These had to be applied to the upper and lower sides of the wings, the tail fin and the rudder - whew! Now I will go over it with dark brown and then apply the surface colour, but just so sensitively that the dark brown primer shines through appropriately.

After applying the undercoat colour, I now put the foils back down: the result is not exact, but that doesn't matter for my purposes. The last two pictures show the lightening that I sprayed with some tinted white; this is to enhance the effect of the slight "translucency" or at least to make the three-dimensionality clearer.

I am sure this will look great. I studied your SG38-build as I think that the result of your technique is very convincing.

Now the decals can be put on.... I am actually quite happy with the effect of the slightly visible ribs.

Rarely have I enjoyed a model building project as much as this little glider! I was actually only interested in the prototype, but what Fly puts in the box here is actually a good and tempting starting point for a lot of modelling fun. The additional masking film for the fabric-covered wing parts was really worthwhile in my opinion, I will do the same for the next "Baby". (oh yes, the family planning is underway, the next baby is already ordered.) I will be pleased if the pictures show a little of the charm that the Grunau Baby has as the original plane.
I saw the little trolley in reference photos; I liked it so much that I rebuilt it "by eye" with parts from the leftover box 🙂

Very impressive 👍 I like your „clean" and simple building and painting style, which in my opinion results in more realistic models than those which have had dozen of layers of paint, floor polish and hair spray and much more thrown at them…!
