The Ju 290 goes into the second round: The US prey plane "Alles Kaputt" is shown flying - this should let experience the gripping lines of this elegant plane well. Tomorrow a little colour comes into play

Question: I wonder, what would you say you find to be the most enjoyable aspect when working on a scale model kit?

I have asked myself this question several times... one thing seems certain to me. I definitely appreciate all the steps, but the sanding is something I'm particularly looking forward to, strangely enough 🙂 This preference is closely followed by working with the airbrush. One aspect I always find very inspiring: to think about tactics and procedures for the building process - that is always different and exciting. What does it look like for you?

Handling the plastic is always fun, and often lead to improvements, and working with plastic is imo fairly trivial. The airbrushing part is growing on me. I seem to have passed a threshold of being comfortable and not making mistakes and getting confused why my airbrush is clogging up.
Working with detailing and photo etch, eeh, is a pitfall for me, because I worry about making mistakes and procrastinate too much. 🙂 If I become a millionaire, I'll get myself a hobby room with no less than five working tables, enough for a few work-in-progress projects, leaving at least one table clean for any sudden urge to start some new work. :|

What looks like a giant rainbow trout is the Ju-290 with painted topside and a fierce gloss clearcoat. Tomorrow we will continue with the black underside!

Well, those are definitely charming words, thank you!
I have now tried to finish the surfaces once and in such a way that the "black" of the underside does not turn out monotonous. I have examined original photos in detail to be able to recreate the partly bad condition of the paintwork around the individual engine nacelles. This is still a long way from being finished, but once it has been created. What is certain, however, is that this elegant leviathan is becoming increasingly difficult to photograph!

Finally, this Ju-290 is also nearing completion. A bit difficult to photograph with so much black, but the photos give a good insight into the current condition: I'm starting now with a hefty washing and proper signs of use, the machine had been flown pretty well after all!

I did it! The Ju-290 duet is mastered! This morning I was able to take a few pictures of the second machine "Alles Kaputt". Since the record-breaking flight across the Atlantic has also been written up in contemporary newspapers, I used a copy of one of them as the basis for the document - together with a few pictures of the original aircraft, so that everyone really believes that this highly unusual flight really did take place!
Thank you for your interest and your motivating encouragement, mate!

I couldn't wait to see this one on Hyperscale too, so I searched and found it: two beautiful builds, thanks for the in-progress notes I will keep them for when the time will come for mine to be started!

What a nice idea for a stand w. black and white photos on it. Inspiring stuff.
I also like how the model dominates over the stand, by the wings being longer than the stand for a more interesting focus on the model as opposed to making the stand the main attraction size wise.
