RAF Spitfire Mk. VIII high altitute figher no. 32 squadron, Italy 1944
nicely detailed interior but sadly nothing will be visible later through the closed up canopy...
view to the cockpit instruments and the cockpit´s right side
As I intended to make an high altitute fighter I added an oxygen mask and goggles with putty for the pilot
primed everything with Alclad black primer (excellent stuff)
As this aircraft had a simple plain grey upper surface and a plain blueish lower surface I experimented with preshadowing for the very first time to give the later surface color a more "uneven" look.
preshadowed the lower underside. This preshadowing process took me surprisingly not too much time. about one hour altogether I believe
This is the upper surface after a careful paintjob with the airbrush and Alclad color. I am very satisfied with the outcome of the colors
Lower side also finished. Looks also promising. Will do this preshadowing regularly in the future 🙂
Finally the finished aircraft after decaling, panel line wash and a careful apply of exhaust stains near the mufflers. I wanted to finish a rather clean machine, not a battered one.
Finished underside
The no 32 squadron badge is just provisional - a woven badge is already ordered and underway to my hangar
