April 16, 2021Classic old Tamiya kit2
April 16, 2021The photo which created the motivation in me to build a 88 in this configuration the moment I have seen it3
April 16, 2021Let's get started4
April 16, 2021The surface has lots of flaws, sink marks and burrs but I'm still enjoying the process5
April 18, 2021Daily report, gun base mostly completed. Still there are some modifications required to achieve a accurate flak 366
April 19, 2021Okay here is the question, did FlaK 36's had rolled armor texture on their shield? I had been for photo walk around of 88s and it's the only one with shield. Any help appreciated7

April 19, 2021Outrigger modification11
April 19, 202199% done12
April 19, 2021Lots of sanding awaits me tomorrow. Also the texture is half done because of the puttied areas, it will be done tomorrow also (hopefully)13
April 20, 2021Filling these 4 boxes are essential for a correct 88 gun. Also surface imperfections caused by the mold itself are sanded down14
April 20, 2021Also sanded, filled and sanded again the injection marks on the back side of the shield15
April 20, 2021I used usual green tamiya cement to soften the plastic and used two types of old cheap brushes to stipple the surface.16
April 20, 2021After wet sanding with P1000 Tamiya17
April 20, 2021Both sides done18
April 20, 2021Backside of the shield19
April 20, 2021Also sanding and texturing of the base is done20

April 22, 2021I rebuilt the lock handle with 0.3mm acetate sheet. The took the photo wrong before modification, but it was just a solid piece. Dragon kit has it same, which is inaccurate.(such a shame on a such price tag)25
April 22, 2021My first ever FlaK, Airfix 1/76 Flak 18 which I had built when I was 11. It's good to see how your attitude towards modelling change through years26

April 22, 2021I was a little bit lazy nowadays so not much of progress done, wiring and drilling here and there, preparing surface for weld lines and flame cuts and lots of time spending checking reference photos.28
April 22, 2021An awesome reference from 8.8cm Flak 18/36/37 vol. I book by Janusz Ledwoc. As I have ordered Hobbyfan FlaK crew I was looking for solid photos of a panzer gray flak manned by fallschirmjäger crew with Zeltbahn 31/ Splittermuster camouflage. That's the reason why these photos are amazing, they are dressed exactly like the figures of Hobbyfan including the ropes on the helmets. Also notice the eagle on the helmet which indicates they are soldiers of Luftwaffe and in 1941, this means they are the Fallschirmjäger of Hermann Göring Div. Only downside is the lack of white indication paints on the fenders of boggies, but I think I can overlook it29

April 30, 2021First I scribed then used tamiya epoxy putty to create weld lines. A little over scale but better then having nothing or kit provided ones34
