Project assessment:
This was my first experience with an all resin model, and there was a definite learning curve. Super glue dries fast but is more difficult to use than extra thin Tamiya. Resin material is easier to sand than plastic, but I over sanded some pieces especially the intake fins and the front wing attachments.
Speaking of which I installed the front wings upside down. I noticed the error after I'd applied decals so it was too late to fix it.
The turbo looks terrible. I didn't sand it adequately but by that point I just wanted to get the thing assembled, since the instructions on assembling the back end are virtually non-existent. So my rear suspension is definitely not right and the rear wing support attachments are probably bad as well.
As for those wing supports, you're supposed to use templates to cut them out of a thin sheet of plastic provided. I totally botched that so I ended up using 2 pieces of card stock per support joined with white glue and dipped in pledge to hopefully provide extra stability. It was way easier than cutting out that plastic but the results were not great.
Finally there's the vacuform windscreen. It must be trimmed out of a sheet of thin plastic. The main problem is that it is not clearly marked where the cut should occur. If I had it to do over, I wouldn't try to cut out the bottom of the screen to match up with top of the cockpit. I would leave some extra material and just tuck it inside the cockpit.
By the way, for tint I mixed some black Vallejo Air with pledge and airbrushed it on the inside surface of the screen. Take care though because it rubs off easily.
There are many other glaring issues too, but overall it's the livery that makes the thing pop and all things considered I achieved that goal. Just don't look too close!
