Space Shuttle Enterprise (OV-101) built as a tribute to the completed NASA Space Shuttle Program. Enterprise never flew in space, although her service life included numerous test and trials, including first flight in 1977 and later being erected for static pad tests at SLC-6 at Vandenberg AFB in 1985.
One of two kits built together, this one for my future-space-nerd grandson for display in his nursery and a slightly-smaller one in 1/288 scale for me.
Enterprise wears the traditional NASA Meatball logo vice the correct "NASA Worm" to represent the in-service shuttles that flew so many missions before their retirement in 2011. Enterprise is now on display at the National Air and Space Museum outside Washington, DC.
Paints are MM Acryl and cheap rattlecan spray for the primer and white top coat. External tank paint is custom-mixed from MM Acryl. Decals from the kit and printed at home.
