I black based the sub assemblies with Vallejo Air black, I then splotched the finish with whilte using a 3M stripping pad and Vallejo Air white. I painted the white underside areas with Vallejo White in 3 light coats thinned to 60%. I masked the whilte and then sprayed 3 light coats of Vallejo light gull grey at 60% Its subtle but the black base and splotching gives an uneven finish while the black base highlights the panel lines. I also sprayed some Vallejo aluminum and dark aluminium on the exhaust area of the fuselage using blue tack to provide variation, I over sprayed it with a dilute mixture of dark aluminum and brown to blend the areas.
I sprayed the model with gloss enamel to provide a smooth surface for decals when disaster hit the Jolly Roger decals from Microscale cracked on application. Although the sheet looked fine it must have dried out over time, I should have sprayed it with a clear coat before using. I bought a CTA decal sheet with the same Jolly Rogers markings but they are coming from Europe so this project will be on hold until they arrive. The next Part will be decals and weathering.
