This could be a really beautiful aircraft for once! And an unusual one at that: I am very pleased that Valom offers such beautifully shaped exotics in good, absolutely buildable kits! The start is done once, together with the Fw 200A this could make a nice pair. By the way, "Albatross" and "Condor" are almost exactly the same length.

Mates, I am very pleased that DH-91 and Fw 200 meet your interest, feel all very welcome! Personally, I am also very much looking forward to this project!

The DH.91 proves to be surprisingly accurate and, as wing fit tests have already shown, will produce a quite accurate and impressive aircraft without major intervention. However, there will be enough filling and sanding to look forward to - but that is really no problem! Now I'll be away from the workbench for a good week, then I can start assembling the big components!

Here, progress is a little slower because it is also more complex. But the moulds promise a really unusually elegant aircraft. In these pictures the wings are only attached and only the tip of the fuselage is sanded.
By the way, the accuracy of fit and the general quality of the plastic parts is wonderful!

At the DH. 91 also had to be reinforced by means of a metal rod: on the tail fin, both the horizontal tailplane and the two end-disc vertical stabilisers have been reinforced with wire pins. Today I was able to start painting; it also makes the few touch-ups visible.

I am pleased with your judgement, Dominik. This is one of those Valom kits where everything seems to fit - a real pleasure so far! I'm currently painting the tricolour on the underside of the tail and both fins, followed by the primer- and then I'm looking forward to the uniform aluminium!

I'm very pleased, Finn and Michael! Here you can see a few pictures before the priming with glossy black: the blue parts on the engine nacelles are masked - quite a bit of work 🙂- and the tail fins are also painted in the colours of the tricolour. Now it's time for the aluminuim!

A few recent photos: the DH.91 now features Alclad "White Aluminum" and "High Speed Silver" on its surfaces. Based on original photos, I would like to keep the surfaces similarly glossy. But now the decals will be applied tomorrow!

It looks like 1,000 mile an hour, even standing still! Beautiful indeed.

The last pictures of the "Albatross" without landing gear - but with the decals on top. I am glad to have caught the blue of the engine cowling quite well, similar to the blue of the markings.

Thank you very much for your really motivating words, mates!
Ronan, in lieu of many words.... many pictures 🙂 There are two doors leading out of my model workshop into two basement rooms. In one, amazingly dust-free, the current models are set up for a while to look at and enjoy, in the other, smaller archive, model kits and the older models packed in foam boxes are waiting.

Last picture: in the box, I don' t recognize the natural metal USAF plane. Which is it? (Not the Stratojet, the other one...) Thanks

It´s a B-45B Tornado, one of my first Valom-builds. Quite a pleasure.

Fantastic aircraft collection!
Roland, where do you get those foam boxes? I have to make a move soon and possibly they will come in handy to move my models made.

Thank you both!
I made these foam boxes myself. A thermo cutter, simple foam insulation boards and a quickly made plan made the whole thing happen quite quickly. I sized them so that my car can be filled with a maximum number of boxes - for exhibition participation 🙂
The black strips are adhesive tapes that increase the strength; the individual parts were glued together with a commercially available foam adhesive. The important thing is the well-fitting lid, which makes the boxes amazingly dust-proof.

With pleasure!
The DH-91 Albatross is now finished, and this morning, thanks to the weekend, I managed to get a few more pictures.
The GPM hangar was used as photo background for the first time, whereby I tried not to take "background" literally, but also to use the depth of field.
The DH 91 is one of the more pleasant and, above all, very easy-fitting models from Valom that I have seen so far. I can only warmly recommend this beautiful and elegant machine, which is available in several decal versions, to anyone interested - it will provide some variety in the showcase! 🙂

Michale summarized it well enough!
Good job on another beautiful model.
Btw, you have a beautiful working space for modelling. But when looking at your displayed models I am wondering if dust is not an issue for you? I have for all of my models some small transparent displays on top. It's a bit expensive, but I am personally annoyed by all that dust and constantly cleaning so many models will lead to accidents in my case.

It's always a treat when someone that's as good as you are tackles those less well known subjects. Well done on an excellent build!

I have no idea how you achieved the perfect masking and painting on the engine covers, but the blue regalia makes it for me, on this photogenic plane. Immaculate results giving huge pleasure 🙂

Hello mates! Getting such a lot of feedback from such an illustrious crowd of multifaceted modelling masters makes me a wee bit proud. i thank you all for this interest and the motivation that comes with it!
Marius, your question about dust safety with the storage in the cellar shown is justified. For a long time I had all the finished models in these white foam boxes - with the disadvantage of not being able to see anything of the models. The only reason it works well to put them in this cellar room is that it has no windows and is in a very quiet part of the house. No model stays open for longer than, let's say, a year, because then: off into the box! 🙂
