Hi Robert, you seem to have taken a liking to the smallest models. 🙂
From the title of the album and the opening photo of the project, I assume Dakota will have a civilian coat. Do you have decals available for the civilian coloring? I think spray painting narrow stripes around the windows and small lettering would be very difficult.

Thanks for your interest, Mates 🙂 Yes, I have the decal set for LOT Dakotas, Ludviku:

and that's the reason to tackle this topic 😉

You really are going to lose your eyesight with these 144 builds mate, you have been warned 😛

Thanks for your interest, Bruce 🙂 Łukasz - this one is bigger than some of my 1:72 scale builds 😉

I bet 😄 👍
Btw: Not sure about SP-LCD, but LCB had non-standard window added on the right side and additional antennas.

Thanks for the info, I will look into my references. Still, I am simply going to paint over all the transparencies and rely on decal sheet version in this case.

In our country, they say that what's slow doesn't run away. :-D
Nice progress. 👍 Looking forward to the sequel.

I'm very curious about the decals. I think the larva will hatch into a butterfly. 🙂

Dziękuję, Ludviku i Patryku! I am waiting for the metallizer to cure and give it a coat of gloss varnish.

More haste, less speed. So sorry to see the decals being difficult to work with. Good luck with the next steps, she is certainly looking very nice already.

As the memory of the tricky decals fades, the beauty of your creation will intensify.... Can you use just the dark windows and not use the damaged lines? If thin lines are essential, can you use thinly cut strips from coloured decal sheet?

Actually, that's what I am going to do, Bruce - to use only the black windows and perhaps a 0,1 mm waterproof marker... 😉

And a couple of silver diagonal lines on the black, to suggest a reflection.... 🙂 What's that word? Serendipidy 🙂

Thanks for you offer, Łukasz - I am also considering printing these decals on my own (black rectangles with thin frames are not so difficult to draw, I suppose 😉 ) Still, I think I will take a break from this project for a while...

Dakota looks very good with the decals applied. 👍
The damaged black lines are a shame, but I think the windows can do without them.
The possibility of the decals not being of good quality or some of them getting damaged during application is why I scan the decal sheet first. Unless it's white lettering and characters, it's no problem to print new decals and use them in place of the damaged ones.

Ludvik makes a good point. When uploading instructions to the site, scan the decals too.

I accept that it is extra work and not strictly necessary in this case. But given the simple shapes of the damaged decals, it would be possible to scan the decals in this condition and then repair the damaged lines in one of the graphic editors. Or the windows could be painted new ones. Then it wouldn't even be a problem to incorporate reflections into the windows as Bruce suggested. For myself, I can recommend a simple vector graphics editor - Inkscape.

If I only posessed such skills, Ludviku... I think I will find much simpler solution (that is within my natural capabilities 😉

Hooray, the decal problem is solved. 😄
Robert, are you ready for more work on Dakota? It'd be a shame not to finish such a nice plane.

I wish you a smooth construction process and look forward to the continuation.
When I was looking at Łukasz Gliński's Dakota, I remembered that I have an old Revell Dakota kit (1:72) in my closet. I used to want to build one with a military "coat". Now I'm glad that didn't happen. Thanks to your and Luke's build, I came to the conclusion that the civilian designation suits her much better. So I'll leave my favorite 1/48 scale for a while (after finishing the Hindu rebuild) and relax with building a DC-3 in Czechoslovakian Airlines colors in 1/72 scale. 😉

It's very good that you didn't let the problems discourage you and Dakota was given one last chance and the model was completed. The silver and white colouring with blue accessories suits this machine very well. I like the finished model very much. 👍

Thanks, Greg, you're too kind... this was a tedious journey and I am not wholly satisfied with the outcome... Still, I've done my best against all odds 😉
