Album info

USS Montana (BB-64) from 2002 kit by Trumpeter (1/700).
Depicts USS WISCONSIN (BB-67) as preserved in Norfolk, VA, c. 2007.

I retired from the Navy under the rifle barrels of turret #3 aboard Wisconsin in 2007 with a three-man det from the Navy Band at Little Creek to help see me off. The crew that maintains the ship were very gracious to host my event even let me clamber over railings and into off-limits areas to hoist a US flag to the main truck so I could have a ceremonial memento to give my dad, also retired Navy, and the guest of honor at my retirement.

I can actually claim that my last ship was a Battleship. If only for an hour or so.

I had this kit sitting around for a rainy day and it finally came. It was a quick build (that took eight years) but it is pretty much OOB. The case is home-made, the old-fashioned way of scoring and cutting acrylic sheet.

Paints are rattlecan (quick build, remember?) and she is PE-free (quick build, remember?)

Wisconsin sits proudly in my bookcase now, where I can see the real artifact from my office window!
