A start has been made: these pictures open the built on this remarkable leviathan; I am curious to see what awaits me during construction!
The cockpit, relatively empty and without any details, was refreshed by me "closer to the original" - my thanks go to the well-filled spare box. The lead wire bracket, which can also be seen from the outside at the front end of the cockpit, will carry the two control horns. They will be mounted at the very end.

That's one of the coolest classic Matchbox topics. Following (and hunting for it too) 👍

Really enjoying how you have brought the cockpit interior to life, creating different materails just with the paints 🙂 The stitching of the leather (?) panels is a nice extra detail 🙂

Thank you very much, Tony and Bruce!
One difficulty I have with this build was that the sides of the fuselage have no useful trace of a covered fuselage structure. Instead you have to sand the glue seam of the fuselage segments, which additionally erases any structures.
I aimed for a solution in the form of cutting flat polysterol to size and then engraving on the inside with a biro tip the emerging understructure of a canvas stretched over a structure. That was my aim at least, let's see what comes out in the end.
A certain amount of work was involved in sanding the fuselage sides slim by the amount of the material thickness of the polysterol sheet. You can see the final result in black primer; I may say that it looks a bit more convincing in reality! 🙂

Thank you Maciej, Ben and Luke!
The new pictures show you a few construction steps: on the one hand, I sharpened the edges of the fuselage flanks a bit and reduced the fuselage thickness. As a result, you can see the black and white banding here, which is reminiscent of the broadsides of a sailing frigate.
The green colour -Gunze H58 "Interior Green"- is used to homogenise the different coloured backgrounds and to prepare the final green tone of the finished surface.
The Heyford project remains exciting for me - "Matchbox rules! 🙂

Thank you mates!
Łukasz, going by the distribution of male and female model-building Jedis here, I'm pretty sure Luke answered 🙂
Bas, I honestly have no idea, but it can't be due to "Red Bull" consumption...

Nice! It goes to show that this model can be built into a nice replica. Where did you get the PE cockpit details? Or is it your excellent painting skills?

Thanks Dave! The PE parts are from my leftover box; the selection, the choice of parts is based on what I was able to find out from photos of the Heyford's inner workings. It should at least be a good approximation - yes, a little colour has also come into play.

Mark, without a doubt - and an excellent kit as far as accuracy of fit and quality of the casting are concerned.

Almost everything "ready" already! The transition between undercarriage and lower wings still has to be sanded and painted, furthermore, the final gloss level is applied to all surfaces facing inwards, towards the bracing- and then assembly begins!

The rigging of the Heyford is almost complete - four rigging wires are still missing - and the next step will be to close the gaps where the wires were fixed under tension with CA glue.

Now the Heyford is also finished! I am quite happy about that, because this was a really demanding project. Matchbox kits simply have an irresistible charm - the model selection alone - but of course they require a lot of reworking.Accordingly, all the finer details on the Heyford are scratched; for example, the roll bars, the entire assembly of the pitot tube on the chin, the rudder balance weights or the Vickers MG. However, these are from Gaspatch. I hope you like the result - by the way, I'm also trying out my new photo backgrounds from Coastal Kits here. Not quite in keeping with the era, but curiosity got the better of me! 🙂

Another strange but interestingly shaped inter-war aircraft. Something I'd like to build also.
Ok. How in the....did the pilot climb in the seat? A step ladder?
