It really takes a lot of etched parts and some improvisation to bring the outdated shapes in this kit to some life!

Btw, one trick I did with my cargo transport plane project in 1:144, was to airbrush on primer and paint around the window openings before the two fuselage parts are glued together, and then glue on the windows before gluing the two fuselage parts together, and then just rougly mask the windows and a little out from the edges of the clear parts. Works ok, but only as long as you can avoid spraying over the masking tape, because then the new paint probably creates some kind of visible edge, ever so slightly. That way, I didn't have to think about making precise masking tape for the windows, and I avoided gunk going up against the masking tape. I think I airbrushed a gloss coat over the clear parts later though.

You got a few of them going right now, do you...😉
Nice pit and instruments, hope the clear parts will pay them justice and let some of the finer stuff be seen through!

Thank you Slavo! Clear parts look fine so far- and I will show the cockpits side windows open. So there is hope that not all is swallowed by darkness.

Ready for some Alclad! This kit does not, as already mentioned, score with an overwhelming richness of detail, but it has quite nice surface structures. I am really looking forward to designing the NMF surfaces!

The B-24 can be seen here factory new. Tomorrow it should become "Dragon and its Tail" by means of a few decals. We will see how that works....

Thank you! Yes, these jigs are a little fun on my part, but sometimes they do bring "atmosphere" to a building scenery! 🙂

The B-24 is making great progress to become the "Dragon and his Tail. The decals of "Warbird Decals" were a joy to work with.
The surfaces are finished for the first time, now a little dirt and grime is added as well as a subtle washing.

Great subject and great work Roland!
This one is close to my heart as at one point there was a restored B-24 painted in these markings parked down in Ft. Myers Florida and I remember seeing it several times as a young man. I think it has been repainted in other markings since though.

Thank you mates, if I would have needed some motivation to get along with this piece of painting-art, you would have given it to me! Indeed Nathan, I noticed that the original was lost due to an landing accident short after the war, but another B-24 has been painted to represent this gem for a while. There are plenty of quality pictures of this aircraft in the net, even it does show another livery these days.

A few steps further to a finished B-24! To be honest, only the props and antenna cable plus a few final brush swabs are missing. The B-24 as a complex aircraft offers many corners where you can miss something, a little patience is quite good. The MG- barrels of the kit have been replaced with resin ones.

Last but not least: completed! The Dragon Egg is hatched - and a rather large model has cleared the workbench for something new. The B-24 Liberator is a really attractive appearance, especially with such a Bartigian painting. Even the outdated Minicraft moulds and my treatment can't help it! 🙂
Thank you very much for your interest and your motivating comments!

Superb finish - metal & decal, every inch a stunner! 👍
Cool pictures too, I guess positioning this baby for the shoot was not without challenge 🙂

I have to say the clean NMF look of the unpainted fuselage side is for me as compelling as the side with the nose art. Looks great!

Looking great! 👍
I love the nose art, that decal must have had its challenges when putting it on. I love the B-24 and wish I could have one in 1:48-scale.

A new B-24 in 1:48 would be a real and actually quite overdue enrichment. Thanks Björn!

That decal alone deserves two likes in one not to mention the interior. I gave you the one I'm able to and wish I had just another one for you!!!

Mates, this is really so gratifying! Thank you for your positive comments, I am very pleased. "Dragon and its Tail" was already a beautiful experience during construction, with your uplifting words after two years it recalls most gratifying!
