'68 Dodge Charger R/T - WIP View: Slideshow Mosaic List 1 March 13, 2020
The stuff that I needed...
2 March 13, 2020
...to open the doors. Love that work
3 4 March 13, 2020
The material is really thick
5 6 March 16, 2020
So, now the doorpanels are in pieces...
7 March 16, 2020
...and that looks....hmmmm...a lot of holes to be filled
8 April 28, 2020
...in the meantime...
9 April 28, 2020
started the engines. HEMI for one...
10 April 28, 2020
...440 for another one.
11 April 28, 2020
started wiring only for sparkplugs
12 13 April 28, 2020
of course in correct firing order 😉
14 April 28, 2020
...i found the "right" way for me.
15 April 28, 2020
After a lot of trying, trash produced door hinges.
16 April 28, 2020
marking the correct fit to glue the hinges
17 18 19 20 April 28, 2020
thinned the plastik out as as much as possible (ignore the two tubes)
21 April 28, 2020
the final mounting on the body
22 23 24 April 28, 2020
like the original, they had to open inwards
25 26 27 April 28, 2020
in my view: perfect
28 May 7, 2020
...to fill the holes from the doors, made a first form out of paper
29 May 7, 2020
overlayed it to 0,5 sheet (keep it lightweight)
30 May 7, 2020
hold the doorpanels in the right place while filling the holes
31 32 May 7, 2020
glued sheet to fit the doorpanels better (later, after painting)
33 34 May 7, 2020
also made some covers to the front part of the doors
35 May 7, 2020
same on the b_pillars. made a form out of paper
36 37 May 7, 2020
i want to hve the inner side of the side panels even
38 39 May 7, 2020
only some filling needed when glued on
40 May 7, 2020
glued in place
41 42 May 17, 2020
cleaned up the glued parts
43 May 17, 2020
next parts glued. Only to make it look a little bit realistic.
44 May 17, 2020
A nice sideeffect is, that the doors are fitting much better with this parts
45 May 17, 2020
testfit, if the rear bench will fit later (after painting), when the side panel are glued? no!
46 May 17, 2020
before i glued the sidepanels to the floor, i have to instal the rear bench.
So, my first color choice is done. The second one will be black inside - can be painted after the coming work 😉
This step is necessary, because i will sand the doorentry to get as less gapes as possible.
47 May 17, 2020
i sanded the outside from the sidepanels
48 May 17, 2020
started drilling holes thru the b-pillar and doors...
49 50 May 17, 2020
...glued a magnet into the door...
51 May 17, 2020
...and drilled out the position for the magnet in the B-pillar
52 May 17, 2020
magnets installed
53 May 17, 2020
the same work also on the second Charger.
54 55 56 57 58 May 17, 2020
Ah, perhaps a question, why the windshields are installed?
To check, how the dashboard is fitting. i had to sand them narrower.
59 May 20, 2020
the sidepanels are sanded and fit perfect in my view - thats what i like!
60 61 May 20, 2020
after that big step of work is nearly done to get on paint of the body, i painted the parts (both Charger similar)
62 May 20, 2020
Made my first decision of paint: bright blue. The second will be...i think white.
63 May 20, 2020
...and cleared the fueltank from inscription from Revell. overseen...
64 May 20, 2020
Looks much better
65 May 20, 2020
and painted some more small parts
66 May 20, 2020
i was in the flow...so i can't get stopping me, wanted to see the chassis (rear) completed.
The front will be attached after completing with the body.
67 May 20, 2020
next step:
Painting the interiors. Outsides are well sanded, flat.
The left will be black, the right one is ready for the bright blue
68 May 20, 2020
...and for before taped white seats.
69 May 20, 2020
Painted doorentrys in bodypaint. Thats working really as i wished. I'm happy with this big step!
70 71 May 20, 2020
...black. ready.
72 May 30, 2020
made the interior details so far ready and painted the doorentries with the body colors
73 May 30, 2020
also i painted the inner side of the bodyparts
74 May 30, 2020
first layer of primer on both
75 May 30, 2020
and the experiment with the vinyl roof is starting. The seen lines are small stripes of BMF i made on the body to have the overlay from the vinyl parts. on the C-pillar i made the same, but three layers of BMF. I hope it will work as expected.
76 May 30, 2020
after the first primer, there are some spots to work on before i can paint the body. of course they are!
77 May 30, 2020
I would have been surprised if it wasn't something to rework.
78 June 20, 2020
both bodys are painted after filler and wet sanding....and some layers of paint.
79 June 20, 2020
