First pictures of Neptune! I really like the old Hasegawa forms very much. Good fitting accuracy - although by today's standards much too little detail inside -and very fine rows of rivets! 🙂 I hope that the heavy sanding necessary will not harm too much!

I see you're going to leave the raised details, brave man you are 🙂

Your interest pleases me!
Lukasz, in this case I like the finely reproduced raised lines quite well, in the overall appearance they seem even more appropriate than this endless repetition of recessed panel lines. The inevitable sanding becomes difficult and some "trickery" is necessary, but I hope- and am confident-that the result will be at least harmonious.

The P2-V Neptune is in principle a very elegant aircraft - even the later attached jets under the wings cannot change anything 🙂 The Hasegawa model in its raw construction also gives an idea of this.
In the meantime I decided to use the markings of an early Neptune in "glossy sea blue".

An early bird in glossy sea blue sounds like an excellent choice!

All is prepared for the "glossy sea blue"; I have already applied Gunze H 326 "sea blue" to the wings as a trial. The framing of the glass nose is held in white, fronts of this electronic "pumps on the downside of the fuselage has been prepared with black color. I am eager to see her in "sea blue" allover!

The pictures show wrong colours - unfortunately I excluded daylight while taking the pictures - but they give you an idea how the "glossy sea blue" really makes it shine. I played around for quite a long time to wrap the decals and the surfaces in an appropriate shimmer.
The kit is not high tech, so there are a lot of adapted etched parts in areas like the landing gear bay and the cockpit, but it's fun to have such a well made vintage kit!

Very well done Roland. I have this kit on my to-do.

The Neptune is now completed. In conclusion it can be said that this was a really simple kit - which means both the comfort of building and the level of detail. The real attraction here is the rather exotic version of an early dash 7 in glossy sea blue, which was realized with a decal sheet from Caracal. I am happy to have mastered this rather rare bird, which brings quite respectable dimensions into the showcase!
Thanks for your interest and your encouraging comments!

By the way: A friend of mine reminded me how much the fairings of the two Westinghouse turbines remind of Corona-masks. Once you see that, you can't get it out of your mind.
