Interesting! Got this kit in my stash too. Looks like a nice kit. Are you going to replace the propeller and cowling? The propeller in the kit spins the wrong way and i've read that the cowling is not correct?

One of my fav airplanes! Will be watching this one 🙂 I've heard you can replace the propeller with a Fw190's prop. Not sure which version though. Replacement or not, I'm looking forward to see this bird gets build!

Hello mates! Thank you for this hint; indeed, I am going to exchange the prop with one out of my stash, a Hasegawa Fw190 will be the donator. The cowling will be used unchanged, so that will be no great effort to cure the main issue on this Bv 141.

That sounds good 🙂 In my opinion, the prop is the biggest concern on this kit. Can you fill us in on the "buildability" of this kit as you go? I'm thinking of getting one myself.

Hello Roland, I have also just started researching this bird. The cowl is totally wrong. The kit engine is toy-like. The exhaust stubs are in the wrong position, the fuselage lacks surface detail. I am using Aires BMW-801 with the cowl from a Do217, and scratching the rest. Otherwise the parts seem to fit fairly well.

Hi Aghis and Erik, thank you for your comments! You are right, the kit has it´s serious troubles. Anyway, I will build this kit more or less out of the box, just exchanging the wrong prop and re-scribing some panel lines.
The pictures show works progress of last week. Fit proved to be just perfect, Eduard gave some help in detailing the interior.
Next step will be sanding all the glue seems, that´s in especially needed between the two major crew compartment-parts.

A question to everyone more knowing about the Bv-141: Should I really paint the wheels and wheel struts in RLM 65 as Hobby Boss suggests? My choice would have been RLM02.
Maybe somebody knows... I am thankful for every opinion!

Great choice again Roland ! Your excellent work on the cockpit will pay off for sure with all that glazing around it ! Are these Masks by Eduard as well, or did you cut them yoursef ? I love these odd birds. I have no reference on the landing gear but I find it hard to believe, that these part were painted in Camo scheme colours, so My choice
Would be RLM 02 .

Personally I would go for RLM 02, because that was the standard color for that. (Maybe RLM66 when you gonna build a what-if but thats my opinion)

There are very clear photos of the landing gear in the net, they are definitely painted in a glossy finish RLM02, complete with servicing labels, etc.

Oh, an asymmetrical plane. Since I am in.
The landing gear are RLM02, the wheels (Felgen) come in satin black.
@ Sören: RLM66 not only what if. There were actually some machines where the landing gear in this color were. In the Bf-109 with AS engine were even some painted in red.

Thank you all for your friendly replies!
That´s an interesting discussion: the wheel rims will be colored RLM66, but, again, the wheel struts...
I show you three pictures out of David Myhras Bv 141 publication- a highly speculative book by the way.
The wheel struts seem to be very bright and very near to the underside color- or is it RLM02, just looking very similar because of the b/w photos?
After all, I will have to make a decision soon... Thank you for views!

Quite a hairy experience was sanding so near at the precious cockpits windows... the last two pictures show the final outcome.

Oh cool, what do we have here? BV141! Thats a promising start, Roland! Do you still have some masking tape left? Or do you need to order some new rolls? 😄😄

Please note that the photos show the gear of the V2, not the BV141B. Which one are you making ? Still the color looks like the standard RLM02, which is a bright colour (especially if the photo is overexposed).

Thank you all guys! Holger q Guido: I really like odd and somehow out of the ordinary, indeed. Reportedly the Bv 141 layout had real advantages and was quite pleasing to fly...
Masking was done with a little help by "Eduard"; actually the project started as soon as these masks had been available.
Aghis, thank you for this hint, I am doing the V-10. Trumpeters painting suggestions are not always to be completely trusted, so thank you all for your remarks- RLM02 will be sprayed on the wheel struts!

The Bv-141 is nearing completion: you can see a picture without and the following with decals, slight weathering and washing. Next step will balance the gloss of the surfaces, than it´s time to unmask... I am very keen to do that!

Thanks for these kind comments, mates!
Nearly finished at last; just the canopy hatches, prop and some smaller parts have to be attached.
Hoping that the clear parts have got through the painting unharmed!

Here it is, Vegard... and all others, who have been interested in this lovely and controversial kit.
I am quite pleased with the result, still knowing that this Hobby Boss package has it´s faults...
By the way: the landing gear is pretty tricky to assemble, so have caution and enough time when doing that.
Thank you all for your interest!

Wow!! I love it! You got some serious modelling skills. I hope the landing gear is buildable by a novice like me. This is def next on my wishlist 😄 Tail swastika left out or not supposed to be there?

Thank you guys, your comments make me really happy!
Vegard, I am generally not applying Swastikas; pictures show the real thing had them as usual.
My pictures show the Bv141 in slightly shifted colours: you have to imagine RLM 71/ RLM 02 on the upper- and RLM 65 on the underside.

Excellent work! I've tried to work on multiple projects at the same time but don't come as close to completion as you do. I'll keep trying 😄
