First impressions of the F-80 I am going to build. The kit has a rather simple layout -and is obviously a short run product. Resin parts are very very nice, I am really looking forward to the assembling of this elegant aircraft!

Some news about cockpit interior: it´s finished so far. All the interior detail have been made by borroed etched parts, various wires and cables. The seat got some aditional seat belts made of etched parts and painted masking tapes: I thought it would be a good idea to alter some of the "ropes" to broader belts...
It´s a nice feeling to see that mighty fuselage on the bench!

Very nice, especially the seatbelts, which are way better than the pieces of string molded on the resin seat!

Hi Lionel, I agree on that. Looks as if the pilots had to be tied on their seats 🙂

Three steps can be seen on the new pictures: ready for sanding after the putty, before and after applying the black gloss prime coat for Alclads "White Aluminum". By now this has been done and drying for a few days to allow the next step: masking the blue...

The first layer of "Alclad" has been applied. An area in the rear part of the fuselage had to be reworked because of imperfections visible under the coat of "White Aluminum", besides that no problems had been accounted.

Nice first coat of aluminium. I hope the imperfections you have to deal with will go away easily.

Thank you Marco, no great effort, the sanding work you can see on the pictures had been effort enough. The next day those imperfections disappeared under a layer of White Aluminum.

All the intended shades of "Alclad" have been applied, the rest is up to weathering and washing.
Next will be masking and painting of the blue and olive drab areas

Thank you Lionel!
Having used a copy of the decalsheet as a gauge for the blue lining it was rather easy to get the correct curved mask for spraying.
You can see the F-80 with a first coat of clear gloss- next step will be appliance of the decals...

Thank you guys! As always, Es-haq. And it has been a pleasure to apply. It is a two piece affair, with the major part of the dragon and a smaller one for the dragons tail arranged around the blue lining.

Finished in the end... having been quite a tricky affair to build- really a lot of filling and sanding and self creating some of the more delicate parts!- I am very happy to have struggled through to an end I am satisfied with.
I hope you like it!
