Here are the first pictures of my "afghan" Mil Mi 17. The kits parts seem to be rather crude- as are my attempts to build seatbelts from metal foil 🙂
My excuse is the circumstance that there will be not much to be seen through the quite thick clear parts.
Despite this I made some effort to detail the interior with spare etched parts.

Things are taking shape... I love that Zvezda kit, even if it might not be perfect in fit and cockpit detail.
Next step will see the cockpit and fuselage- windows masked.

Nice bit of detailing in the cockpit! A big improvement over the provided parts. I look forward to seeing more progress, I can tell it's going to be great!

Great: I'm tuned in.
Roland: Kitbashing mit Hobbyboss wärmstens zu empfehlen. Die Teile wie Fahrwerk und Rotoren sind ungleich besser (hab bei meiner Mi 8 auch gemacht). Groetjes

Roland: Is Hobbyboss the only 72nd scale kit with the correct arc across the top of the windscreen? I haven't figured out how to correct this problem on my Italeri or Mastercraft kits?

Hello Keith: what I can say is that on Zvezdas parts there is no represantation of an overhead instrument panel whatsoever- all you will find is empty space. I do not know the HB or the other kits...

The preshading is done, next step will see the underside colour applied. The fitting of the window will be reworked with a little bit of filler and some sanding.

The surfaces have been finished, I am not planning to do any further painting... but I am definitly eager to attach the various struts of the weapon-pylons 🙂

It looks great, the painting is just right ... cool. (I want the same look for my MiG-21)
I'm curious about the finished one.

Hi Albi, your comment is making me happy- it´s some time since I tackled with 1/72 scale 🙂
The MilMi should be finished the next days.... and now I must have a look at your Mig-21!

The paintjob is spot on including scale effect. Just looks like a real one. 👍👍👍
Did you use some brown for postshading the panel lines on top of the front section?

Hey, thank you very much for kind words and interest! Burkhard, you are right: postshading was done with several brown shades of Aquarell crayons. The Mi-17 "Hip" is, besides some finishing touches, nearly finished by now.

Thank you Luc!
This obviously heavy armed Mil Mi has been finished: The areal masts -and of course the wire- have been scratched, also the ends of the Pitot tubes have been fabricated by stretched sprue. The rotor head begged for some wiring, but the rest of the details could be all found in the Zvezda boxing...
This kit was quite a lot of modelling fun- and I am looking forward to the next Zvezda-heli kit! Thank you for your interest!
