Dwarves like to grow in the shadow of giants: I would like to introduce you to a project that is close to my heart - if only there was a tangible and easily realisable Lancastrian in 1:72 or even 1:48! 🙂
This nice project from Amodel is not so badly done. I will be able to correct the most pressing ugliness, such as the exhaust stubs.

I am very pleased about your interest!
The Lancastrian now has a first coat of Alclad metal paint; more will follow. Somehow I have to get rid of the bright lustre of the panel lines, which are still too deep.

I was so annoyed by this bright flickering in the panel lines (which are still too deep anyway) that I have now filled everything in. With the expected drying shrinkage of the filler, the indentations will continue to show - but no longer so disturbing. Now you can see the levelled surface sanded down, ready to receive the new Alclad layers!

Small update here too: you can see the masking for the final Alclad spray. Again, I hope the finish is not too far away!

There won't be too many more pictures here - the Lancastrian is being finished. What is still missing here is the colour on the rudder balancing weights of the rudders - these are "KlearFix" droplets applied to pieces of wire - and a straightening of the dipole antennas on the bow. There are also a lot of little things that need to be "dabbed out" with a brush .... but on the whole I will probably leave it as it is.

Fantastic result Roland particularly for 1/144, I'd have thought it was 1/72 from the photos.

The very successful Lancastrian project is now complete, I was able to take a few pictures this morning. I did a lot of the work myself, the tyres are made of resin and I'm really impressed with the (purchased) deep-drawn canopy. I'll be doing this more often now! Because I'm quite interested in the Lancaster spin-offs, I got myself a Mach 2 Avro York as part of this project, but that's another story....! 🙂 I hope you like the pictures as much as I enjoyed this refreshingly "different" project!

A "different" project indeed ......... on the other hand nearly all of your projects are all little "different", so no problem with a modelling routine! 👍
