Album info
This is my Curtiss Hawk III from Freedom Models. It is my one and only model from this specific company and the kit already started to fight against me very early during the building stage. The struts between the upper and lower wings were just too short, I have to scratchbuild one. The etched rigging wires are made out of stainless steel and very very sturdy against my attempts to cut them from the fret (ruined one expensive TAMYA etched parts cutting scissors and several cutter blades...). The length of these rigging wires were also not fitting - this was the point for me to think about giving up on this one and let it landing into the trashbin. But Perseverance won finally over capitulation and I finished this one with clenched teeth.
On the positive side it ist to say that the engine is really nicely done by Freedom Models and they have provided quite a lot different marking options (of what the chinese version was also not usable because the blue decal colors were much too light...) and a nice resin pilot figure which I used at another chinese plane though.
The base is from Coastal Kits and the pilot is taken from TAMIYA´s Zero kit. This one was in my opinion the best option to represent a Thai pilot as they used japanese equipments during the time they were allied with Japan.
