First pictures of this project: I have added some -plausible, so I hope- etched parts from my spare box to grade up the entirely naked cockpit/ interior. I guess there won´t be much to see when finished, but I am planning to display the cockpits side windows opened, so it´s better to be careful.
The last two pictures illustrate the heavily raised panel lines- they will be sanded down to a more appropriate state or, occasionally, erased completely before being re- scribed

I am in - don't want to miss the outcome!

Thomas, Erik... feel welcome! 🙂
Yesterday I primed the interior with gloss black, then painted it with Gunzes RLM02. I hope to have finished paintwork for the interior till this week.

Roland Sachsenhofer
The interior seems to be finished so far- I gave the RLM02 surface a washing of brown pastells to get it more lifelike....
When the two turrets in the bow and stern will be finished the fuselage can be closed; by the way, there is a lot to do concerning detailing those turrets.... 🙂

Da wirst Du ja ordentlich die Graviernadel schwingen müssen, was?😢

Hi folks, hthank you both for your comments- there will be heavy tools being needed shaping Revells/Supermodels "flying clog", "moving stylus" included 🙂I will do my best.....
By the way- I will never use Montex masks again.

Soeren R.
Beautiful work so far! 🙂

Thank you Soeren, that´s quite the motivation I need building this..... clog!

The only bad experience with Montex masks have been with old masks where the "glue" was no longer good. Otherwise they work very well for me.
But looking at your pictures I understand what you mean - they look quite useless here.
6 January 2016, 21:21
Hanno Kleinecke
O boy, this looks like a lot of extra work ! But undoubtfully you will turn this rather inferior kit into another masterpiece.

Watching this one. I have one of these in my stash, yet those turrets and empty fuselage want me to find some good interior shots before I start.

I like it!

Thank you all -and feel welcome! 🙂
Thomas, of course you are right with your comment to Montex products; Hanno, I wan´t rescribe all the panellines, because photos of the real thing show a surfaces seeming to be rather not too furrowed- Have a look here:
warbirdphotographs.c..fephotos/lbv1381.htm
David, at this site you can find quality photographs, after all only a few show the Bv 138s interior.
I have heard -and seen a model modified to that- that some guys assume there was a bulkhead beneath the cockpit.

After a busy week with a lot of filling and sanding, filling and sanding.... there are some new achievements- and pictures!
You can see the Bv-138 more or less ready for starting the paint work.
What looks like Montex masks are these masks fixed on Tamiya-tape, then the outlines have been trimmed with a sharp knive.....

Feel welcome!
Preparations for the preshading have been done with Gunzes "RLM02" for Cockpit, Yellow for the specific markings on the tail booms and wings underside- and with Alclads Aluminum, arranging some stains on the fuselage. I hope, all this will contribute to a lively appearance of the surfaces.
Of course some paint and macro-pics make visible a lot of faults I will have to repair before going on with the paintwork.

Some new impression; tomorrow I should be able to spray the yet missing "RLM72".....

Next stop: applying the decals....
2 February 2016, 19:50
Roland Sachsenhofer
After rather disillusioning experiences with rupturing and silvering decals, I decided to mask and paint the white walkways. You can see the preparations for this.
6 February 2016, 20:39
Roland Sachsenhofer
Decals have been sealed with another coat of gloss clear- and the walkways found into existence with white paint. Next will come "matt clear"..... and some signs of tear and wear.

Some progress: the chipping was supplemented with some pastell-painting, also the washing has been applied.
I hope to get that "little" clock finished on weekend; a lot of detailing work as all the antennas, the weaponry or painting the beaching trolley has still to be done 🙂

Roland Sachsenhofer
Dear mates, thank you very much! 🙂
All the surfaces have been finished now, the small parts you can see on the first picture are the first step in my attempt to get proper machine gun, canons for the turrets and exhaust pipes....
In the very next days, the "flying glog" should be finished!
17 February 2016, 09:37
Roland Sachsenhofer
I have done it! 🙂 Oh man, that was quite an demanding project- with a lot of scratch work to do 🙂
In particular some extra strakes for the engines cooling vents- and, of course, all the sanding and rescribing.....
At last, inspite of knowing about all the things someone could do better, I am quite satisfied with the result. 🙂
18 February 2016, 11:13

Wonderful work Roland! The best BV 138 Ive seen so far!

Thank you all for your kind comments, your words make me feel quite happy and encouraged!
Interesting for me have been the new experiences, among them working with rescribing panel lines and scratching with a lot of spare (etched) parts for various details in the interior or the bomb racks for example- and your reactions make this experience perfect 🙂

Hi Roland, this looks fantastic. Are all the etched parts from your spares box, or was there a set you purchased? Thanks.

Hey, thank you all very much, mates! Alec, no aftermarket stuff, just parts found in my spare parts collection.

Managed to pick up one of these on the cheap on e-bay and looking forward to doing it as part of my twin boom fetish. See you pretty much removed the horrible panel lines. Did you just leave them slightly raised or scribe them?
24 February 2017, 10:25
Michael Hickey
Awesome work Roland.👍
24 February 2017, 11:36
Glenn
That's a nice flying clog Roland. I hope to make a minesweeper version one day!
24 February 2017, 13:03
Roland Sachsenhofer
Thank you for these kind comments! Indeed, Adam, I decided to not completely remove all the raised lines. Most of them have been rescribed, others have just been reduced- that should help to represent the appearance of the real thing more accurate: have a look at an one of those old planes- quite rough textured, actually nothing that could be represented with recessed panel lines only!

Wow Roland, a really great model you show us there, super painted and aged. The thing would surely never have won a design prize 😉 but that makes it so specially. Cool, I find the shooters range right behind the middle engine, which surely had really fun at his job 🙂

Thank you both for your kind comments! Indeed, the rear gunners office must have been.... scenic 🙂

Super Ergebnis mal wieder! Ich kann mich noch deutlich an die Schleiforgie am Schiffsrumpf damals Anfang der 80er erinnern.👍👍👍

Roland Sachsenhofer
That makes me very happy, mates! Olivier, you've fished out something well-hung, but I can still remember this building from eight years ago. Thank you for your praise! Thanks to this reminiscence, I am very tempted to build the "flying clog" again - perhaps flying just above the water.
Oh yes, Hans-Jürgen, sanding orgies like in ancient Rome! 🙂
Thank you very much for your comments!
