Porsche 911 GT2 'Playstation' LM '98 - WIP

This work is more of a restoration than a 'WIP'.
This is a kit that I stopped working on about 20 years ago, right before it was finished, when my daughter was born.
After that, I moved and put it in my car trunk, and it kept rolling around in the trunk. 

So I finished the work while repairing the many damaged parts. 

At that time, I tried clear coating on the windshield, but I accidentally applied matte clear.
However, I couldn't remove it with thinner because of the banner decal, so I applied glossy clear on top of it, but only the surface was smooth and the inside was like glass that wasn't transparent.
So I removed it all and printed the banner on top on decal paper, but the dpi of the printer I had at the time was low, so it wasn't clear.
This photo is the condition at that time. 

There were a lot of scratches and fine dust accumulated, so I rubbed it a little with a compound and the shine came back.
It didn't make them look like new, but it felt like I had cleaned my glasses after they had been foggy for months. 🙂 

So I gathered up the exterior parts and rubbed them all down with a compound.
I was surprised that there was no shrinkage at all, considering that it was a lacquer coating that was painted 20 years ago. 

I used the wheels from this kit when I built my Expotech car before, so I had to repaint them. This time I used masking-sol to mask them.

It feels like restoring a dinosaur fossil. 

I had planned to hole the each sides for drive a wire rod, I pierced through the perfectly center. 

Suspension is broken too. 

As before, I dug a hole and inserted a wire rod into it... 

Restored.
The part that was painted with enamel has faded a little. 

Parts were taken from the road car version kit, and decals were printed at 1200dpi.
Since I printed it on transparent decal paper, I had to mask it because I needed to put a white base on it. 

The gold area of the wheel is overcoated with Clear Gold, but I think it would look better if it was overcoated with a mixture of Clear Orange and Clear Yellow. 

The windshield was restored after 20 years.
 

I dried the masking-sol until crisply, it easy fell off when removed. 

All repairs have been completed. 

The upper and lower plates must be joined from the front first. 

And attached fastener and side mirror 

Finally, attach it to the back too.. 

It's done!!
Although the level of completion is low considering it took 20 years to produce, the important thing is that they completed it without giving up. 😉
