I have no idea what I'm looking at.... but I like it. I like it quite a bit.

Havent even had the kit a day, and look at you! LOL I like where you are going with this. BUT, the connection between the turret and body may be tricky. Not sure how much range of motion you could manage.

haha cheers chaps 🙂
for the turret my thinking is get a ball about 70mm in diameter, chop in half, use as the back half of the turret and make a "ball and socket" neck or suspend it on hydraulics, or maybe use a concertina pipe like they used on the AT-AT's neck.

I like the hydraulics route as it looks cool and it means the back of the ball of the turret can have a rear hatch that opens into a ramp so the two crew can walk out the back of the "head" and onto the body etc.

as for the legs I've got four options I'm considering -
Quad spider,
Quad elephant, (AT-AT)
Bi-Ped chicken (AT-ST)
Bi-Ped primate....

I'm floating between chicken and spider at the moment...
of course I may yet go tripod or sextapod or octopod😉 😄

AT-TE predecessor 😉 pls...

ah the sextapod idea, quite like it, will take it into consideration 🙂
the feet on these have given me inspiration for the feet though 😉

I think the sphere in the body could be some kind of cryonucleogenic reaction chamber with lots of pipes and wires hanging out of it 😄

I was thinking the sphere is where the crew is, it being made of clear metal or the like.

I was thinking ball and socket also, but not sure how much side to side it will have.

would not need much, I reckon I can get 30 degrees each way at least, same for up and down.
for the legs I keep having this "Transformers" idea come to mind, could I make this in such a way as to have it transform from tank to legged mecha.

As for the crew they will be upfront, standing up, like they did in the Apollo Moon Lander 🙂
those hatches are now windows😉

The "shins" and "calves" as tread units. "Shoulder" and "hip" joints on some sort of slide rail so they can move towards center and fold up. Follow?

maybe you can use the bowl as a power source... with tome blue lights in it, that also creates a shield around the walker : [img1]

maybe with hull turned upside down

.... Well I think I have a name sorted for this one, "T-64 Zapushki",
which is Russian for Zap Cannon,
sort of anyway 😄

some sketches considering how the legs might do the transforming thing, as well as the turret 🙂

Will it only 'walk' or are you giving it some other options in it's mobility, like wheels or a small tracked device or a corkscrew type drum on each leg end. ? :-o As I would imagine the 'lurching' of a vehicle like this would be devastating for the crews, when a 'smoother' transition through all terrain could be considered. :-/.
23 August 2016, 21:22
Choppa Nutta
yeah, I reckon the AT-AT crews must have had the same lurching problem too😉 😄
but yes, it will have wheels as well as legs, when in compact mode (Tank Mode) the shoulders will be the ground wheels, when in mecha mode it will have wheels on the end of its feet so it can "Roller Skate" as well as walk.. 🙂

or at least this is one idea, the other is to turn the body back to front and do a chicken walker with pincers 🙂

Sketch that out Choppa, as that sounds feasible. 🙂 🙂 🙂 👍

yeah, I've just reread your comment, similar idea but I've kinda done it upside down in this sketch 🙂
more sketches to come no doubt 😄

Okey dokey, time for some comedy modelling 😄
my Lego mecha tank, the Zapushki Zap Cannon.
Yep, it is a mechanised model which can walk forwards & backwards
and with a second motor it will be able to steer😉 😄
I'll sort a video out at some point just for the giggles 🙂.
