Me 163B-1A being filled with T-Stoff for flight
The diorama depicts an Me 163 White 14 of 2/JG 400 being filled with T-Stoff from an Opel Blitz tanker. The Scheuch-Schlepper used to move the aircraft is also in the scene in tow mode for takeoff. Water is also being applied to the tarmak under the aircraft to rinse away any T-Stoff that might leak onto the ground.
The base is plexiglass, scored and painted with Vallejo acrylics and weathered to look like concrete, the water under the aircraft is future which was brushed on.
The Komet is also painted with Vallejo acrylics, (RLM81/82 over 76) with mottling done using a 3M scotch bright pad as a mask. A pin wash and light weathering was also done on the aircraft.
The Opel blitz is also painted with Vallejo acrylics in a german panzer gray with dark yellow splotches. Weathering was done with oils followed by acrylic pin wash and light dry brushing.
The Scheuch-Schlepper was modified from the kit to fabricate the towing module and the interchangeable coupling using styrene strips, tubes and rods and kit bashed parts. It was also painted with Vallejo acrylics dark yellow. Weathering was done with oils followed by acrylic pin wash and light dry brushing.
The figures are from Airfix and were a challenge to use and the least enjoyable part of the build, the poses are limited and they are difficult to paint, although I used Testor enamels for better adhesion to the soft vinyl the paint chipped easily during handling and needed many touch ups.
