Album info B-29-45-MO (Silverplate) serial 44-86292 “Enola Gay” assigned to 393 BS(H), 509th Comp. Gr., circa August 1945.
(Minicraft B-29 in 1/144 scale, kit #14488, c. 2002, re-issued from original Crown models released 1976)
The aircraft needs no introduction.
Molding was a mixed bag, with excellent detailed engines but crappy props, and a problematic shape to the vertical stabilized that called for action. Fit wasn’t horrible, though.
Markings were Xeroxed from the included decal sheet and re-printed on clear film because the carrier film on the kit decals was too fond of the decals themselves. Just wouldn’t let go. Windows (Especially the nose glazing) were all custom printed or cut from decal film. Nose framing is Bare-Metal Foil.
Paint is mostly shades of Alclad II with rattlecan sprays as primer coats.
