Album info
Welcome to my last (and in my opinion best) post from my former builds, before i start the class of 2020.
I built this 300 in 2013. As reference i found an abonded 300 in the web and with that result in mind, i started the built. Some little details (engine, lost horn button, handle for the handbrake...) are 1:1 from the reference. I loves those details.
Whats the story behind?
as you know, some racecars where roadlegal to drive from track to track. so this one was roadlegal too. After his racing career it was sold and used as a legal road car. some day, decades ago, it broke down, the owner tried to repair and started the work on the engine. He lost motivation and let it sit near his barn...years went by...someone found it and is now filling the tires with air to look, if he needs new ones for the transport.
My most challenging work was to weather the decals. i try searching some photos from the progress.
The body was built like new with a shiny clear over the decals. the weatering started twice after the first try was a fault. the key to the success was:
repaint the decals with white, sand it out where you want to have the decals seeing and than weather "my" standart way with the aurbrush.
I used different colors from Vallejo, Schmincke, Pelikan and Mig.
With the plan in mind, all parts are weathered seperaty (!) and at the end mounted together. "well done" - i say to me.
It is my work (with diorama) #1 and i often take a look on the whole projekt.
Have fun with the pictures 😉
