A very low part count and I just noticed that the numbers to the parts are very faint on the sprues. A very nice touch is a choice of three types of tyres.

I would like to make the following observations at this stage:
The quality of the plastic is good and it reacts well to Tamiya's Extra Thin glue. The plastic seems similar to what is/was used by Dragon.
This is a curbside model with no engine bay and truck area detail. No panels can open.
The part numbers are very faint on the sprues.
Part locations are vague. There are also no locating holes for the trunk or engine bay latches. I used the box art to provide guidance. There is also no positive location tabs for the inside door panels. I ended up lining up the bottom of the panel with the bottom of the body.
The instructions is vague when it comes to showing which parts are options to choose from.
Remember to drill out the hole for the Notek light.
On the back of the seats there are four nasty ejector pin marks. Scraping with a scalpel and using a sanding stick took care of that problem.
The fit of the major parts are good. Test fitting is required with all the smaller parts that makes up larger assemblies i.e. the seats and the seating area in the back of the vehicle.
Of the three tyre options provided, I chose the off-road version without hubcaps.
I am going to try and emulate Alan Wernert "Pensfan" who build a similar bug.

I have painted the body, footboards, wings and instrument panel in the base colour, gray. The model will be left to dry at least for 24 hours and then covered in a layer of clear gloss. I plan to do use the hairspray technique to attempt a distressed paint effect.

I placed all the decals and covered the whole model with a clear gloss goat. The decals were extremely thin. I will continue with detail painting on the interior while the exterior dry. I can then apply hairspray.

@David, I hope to resume work again by the end of February 🙂
I am considering stripping the sand-yellow back to the field gray and start again.

I have assumed that they came out of the factory grey so I am doing the interior grey but the exterior sand green.Very fiddly but hopefully worth it.Got to figure out the wheels though.

Never thought to use a dish rack to hold the sprues. What a great idea! The finishing and weathering is coming along nicely

I have placed the bug on hold until I clear the table. The Bentley is hogging all my attention for now 🙂
