I will not be adding the recoilless rifle to the jeep. This aim of this project will be learn/test new techniques and to become friends with my airbrush.

Off to a good start. The quality of the plastic in my opinion is good and sand well. The mold quality is very fine on the chassis. There are a lot seamlines, but nothing that scraping with a scalpel cannot address. The instructions is good. Finding the location/recess for the oil filter took a few minutes but was accomplished the end.

Are you going for any particular paint schemes? or maybe even some figures maybe? Warriors does a good kit...IRANIAN M-38 CREW (3) (Warriors 35608, 1:35) this does come with Iranian rather than American soldiers. Looks good so far ?

@Bobisek, I have not yet thought the painting phase through. My immediate plan is to power through the construction phase and have subassemblies ready for primer. My initial plan was a monochromatic color scheme, trying out colour modulation only as suggested on the box art. Thank you for the Warriors tip, but figure painting is still some way down the road for me 🙂

Gentlemen, thank you for all the likes and interest. Honestly I am humbled, did not expect it, but certainly feels motivated to continue sharing and most importantly learning from like minded people.

I would like to make the following observations at this stage:
Considering the age of the kit and the technology of the time, the molding is very crisp, the fit and the details are good, and the instructions were okay.
The sprue gates are large on some of the parts, but manageable and there have been minimal flash.
The plastic reacted well to Tamiya Extra thin glue.
Should you wish to built the kit with the 106mm recoilless rifle, make sure that you open the appropriate holes in the body.
The locating tabs on the parts are good and provide a positive lock.
Cleaning up the tiny parts remain an adventure! I have lost only one bonnet/hood latch.
The instructions are well thought out.
I am not sure if this is a mentionable discovery, but a standard pin-vise provides you with four different chuck sizes. There is an additional chuck in the handle 🙂

Looking very tidy, Villiers. Lots of details to pick out with a small brush - looking forward to the next phase ?

@Bruce and Oliver, thank you.
The decals laid down well. I chose a jeep from the 101st Airborne.
I progressed to the weathering stage and contemplating using Tamiya's Buff as a final layer after basic weathering.

Gentlemen, thank you. I am much more confident using the airbrush. All hail the inventor of the airbrush! It really makes a difference with painting.

This puppy has been completed. I nice little gem and a treat to build.
Thank you to everybody stopping by, commenting and liking the project. I have learned to be more confident using the airbrush, and gained a lot of experience fixing things with the active participation of my wife's help when I mess up 🙂

I also built this kit a while back and skipped the recoilless rifle. Admittedly, your weathering is much nicer than mine was at the time! Glad to hear you're enjoying the airbrush, it makes a huge difference in paint quality. My favorite thing about using them was always the ease for painting multiple parts, and how quickly you can do it. Can't wait to see your future projects with it.

@Alex, thank you.
@Oliver and Chris, my next project is a Volkswagen Type 87 VW. I have completed the major assemblies and has it is already in primer.
@Chris, thank you for your compliment. I am still making glaring mistakes, but that is part of the fun. I have plans for that 106. The plan is to mount it on a sabre vehicle used in the Angolan civil war.

Fine work, Villiers. I really love the scratches on the hood.
