Today Hanno visited my and we talked about our (small) groupbuild. I intend to show the model in flight and it feels great to build a model OOB without dozens of extra parts in the cockpit...🙂.

OOB? Ooooh, I wonder, how long it will take until the Engineer will take over the Hobbyist again 😄
Will watch with interest, like any other of your builds! 🙂

Edgars & Pavel: you are welcome🙂. Today I reserched and found out that this airplane was very clean. Nearly none of the protruding parts. One pitot probe in the nose and two on the wingtips. Probably two lights on the upper side of the wings. That was it. I could not do any more even if I wanted because the gear is up🙂🙂🙂🙂

Hanno has overtaken me twice and has already finished his D-558. That means I have to speed up🙂 Yesterday I pretended to be Dr. Frankenstein and created from different parts a pilot for the really tight cockpit. Fortunately I found in my spare box two arms with the correct length and position (meaning HOTAS).
The intake lip offers a problem which we call in German "Katze beißt sich in den Schwanz". You have to glue the two halves together for sanding and reshaping. But if you have done this you can't reach it. So; what to do? The easiest way in my opinion was gluing the lips together and cutting them off for preparing.

AHH, here we go.... ! Congrats for the successful surgery carried out on the pilot Bernhard. A Eugene F. May lookalike ! 🙂
Smart solution for the intake problem, again something I never thought of, and even if, probably wouldn't have dared to try .
So the Intake splitter on my bird is slightly out of position... 😳

Today I fitted the wings to the fuselage without trouble and use as my usual way only CA -glue🙂🙂 Only one last hurdle is left: the fitting on the windscreen🙂 I see a problem here because the fit is very bad🙁

Two weeks ago I finished the Stranraer and today after airbrushing steel for aft fuselage and black for anti glare area I wondered: next model completed minus two pitot tubes after such a short building time??? Sometimes you have to use a granite-chisel and sometimes the model builds itself. In comparison to the original pictures the shine of the red is too low but I will leave it as it is because I'm afraid that the glossy paint will make the surface too monotonous and too much "like a toy".

Thank you mates!
Do you know the MarkSetter from Mr color? This is a mix of decal softener -fluid and decal glue and in my opinion the best invention. As last task I applied today the decals on the black anti glare area (quite matt) and did not have to do anything then wait for 10 minutes.

All the images posted of your build really didn't give me any idea of what was to come, but I need not have worried, as the last of them said it all, and again, as is your trade mark, more superb results on such an iconic aircraft.👍 👍 👍.

Excellent craftsmanship, as always! You are right to not make the red any more glossy than it is. Too shiny makes it look like a toy. You've got this one just right! 👍 👍 👍

Thank you Mates: I'm glad that you like the Skystreak🙂
Bill, I'm really glad that you have the same opinion about the shine. I think that the airplane became more matt in the course of the numerous test flights, despite of the initial polish. My old D-558-2 is even semi-gloss and I think that both planes will harmonises on the common display. Today I ordered plexiglas sheets and the rod and I think, next weekend I'm able to finish the project.

The display really catches your eye. That's a great build of the old Revell Skyrocket, too. They look great together! 👍 👍 👍
