Hi Mates,
I have chosen an original Mil Mi-4 for this project and I have a Little "game" for you: here are two pics of ist location. Does anyone know where it is?

On the weekend I produced some openings so the engine can breathe. In the spare box I found some brash mesh that is right for the scale. The cockpit is very well designed but there is one mistake: the instrument panel kind of grows up from the ground🙂 It needs to be attached higher and closer to the seats (on the center panel). There also needs to be a firewall behind the instrument panel, otherwise the pilot could have eye contact with the engine.

A mix of semimatt red, light grey (H128 ) and orange (H19) is close to match the original heli:

The finish aproaches slowly: most of the faded red is airbrushed and nearly all small parts are completed.

Good morning mates, this is my first model with such heavy weathering and it's great that you like it.
Brandon; it's correct, CCCP means USSR.
Yesterday I managed to complete the left side with gear legs and other small parts; pics today evening.

Not sure how I missed this so far, but I must compliment you. This is very nice indeed, really a spectacular job. The fact that this is 1:72 makes it all the more impressive. I think you may be like me, Bernhard, preferring to tackle a model that needs correction and extra detailing rather than a shake and bake kit. I get more satisfaction from such a project. 👍 👍 👍

Bernhard, I think the front wheels swivel, so the trailing arm can be on either side. But the trailing arm should point to the rear when on the outside (exactly like on image 42)

Burkhard: the Homo-plasticus is very happy, if it is not obvious in which scale the model is build!

Good morning Bill. Sehr nett formuliert.

Hi Bill, we have a common: glasses. I have glasses because I am shortsighted. Unfortunately, for 3 years I plagued with age long sightedness (Altersweitsichtigkeit). There is an area between aprox. 25-50 cm where It is for me impossible to read neither without glasses nor with glasses🙁 My wife laughs and says my arms are soon too short to reading🙂

I wear glasses because I'm long-sighted...
Need them for close work, for some detailing I need further help from a magnifying glass. IF I did build 1:43 work scale like Guy Golsteyn, I'd need a Microscope as well!!! Lol (((😄 )))

Übrigens: wie geht's denn Deinem Hanomag (uns natürlich Dir auch🙂. Seit über einem Monat kein Update...

Bernhard, You could bankroll your hobby by making a large display room in your home, setting visiting hours and charging admission! Of course, you would then have to hire a janitor to clean up the mess from all the visitors, thus negating any profits for modeling. Forget it! I was just thinking out loud again. R/ Dutch

Since I already have an art studio; am two blocks from a metropolitan park and museum; am in the city that is usually considered the birthplace of car modeling in the post war form of the hobby; and have an extensive collection of US WWII aircraft of somewhat unique variants; and am less than five mile from the National Park Service exhibit of steam engines, I have pondered the feasibility of such an exhibit.

Phil, what you wrote is really remarkable. I read about your modeling interests and history in your profile. If it is possible do it! We in Germany have in most cases not enough space to really display/show our work (models). I have been in "modeling business" for about 22 years and after building approx 200 models I am running into problems where to keep everything. 3 years ago I built a large glass case (unfortunately in the basement). I calculated this would be enough for approx. 12-15 years, based on my recent output-🙂

Bernhard, thanks for the feedback and interest. Yes, in USA we generally dismiss what we have for living space since the 50s. in one respect, I ve been part of a virtual model car museum; and SM is a perfect venue for builders like us. ( Thanks Tim.) Good glas cases are not that expensive...just the price of a few Hasegawa kits. They should be a priority for anyone who builds "keepers"
