1/72 Revell Do28 C.1 Skyservant "Air Liberia"
1
August 11, 2021This is the livery I have chosen for this model.
It will be a fictional model created for my airport diorama using a real aircraft and a real livery that hasn't been seen used together.2
September 28, 2021Another look at the same livery this time on a Trislander.3
August 12, 2021These are the paints I have selected for the interior so far.4
August 7, 2021My first Job, erase any abnormalities on the interior.
There were some ejector pin marks and a weird pattern that looked as if Revell had tried to cover the old Matchbox label on the inside of the fuselage.5
August 7, 2021All 6 passenger, 2 crew seats and cabin floor clipped and cleaned up ready for the next phase.6
August 12, 2021All primed using Vallejo Model Air Grey Primer.
I had lots of the usual problems with the Airbrush so the out come is an absolute win in my eyes.
After priming I started painting the seats.(Right)7
August 13, 2021The Seats are fully painted, cabin floor is also painted, both engines are fully assembled and I found the Air Liberia decals I was looking for.8
August 14, 2021Interior nearly finished.9
August 14, 2021Another angle to see the basic but necessary added detail.10
August 14, 2021And the engines and wings have all been glued together.11
August 20, 2021After putting a request out on a facebook modelling page I received a set of flight control yokes and adapted it to fit the centre console.
I believe this came from a Matchbox Twin Otter but this does the trick very nicely.12
August 20, 2021Instrument panel is now in and painted.
And hair removed......13
August 20, 2021Everything's nearly ready to be closed up soon.14
August 20, 2021Using an unused decal set from an Airfix Red Arrows 50th Hawk I did my best to create an overhead panel.15
August 21, 2021I decided to use standard tissue paper for the curtains.16
August 21, 2021Watered-down PVA and Vallejo Model Air Blue bought along a nice look.17
August 22, 2021I used scrap18
August 21, 2021Fly netting that we have on our windows might work for the carg19
August 21, 2021Just a little bit of Vallejo Model Air Black made it look like a black cargo net IMHO.20
August 22, 2021I glued it in the left fuselage half before the interior goes in.21
August 22, 2021Curtains are now in too.22
August 22, 2021Interior now glued in too.23
August 22, 2021I've made and installed a netting g support post, in reality these are removable to allow easier baggage loading.24
August 22, 2021I think it's all ready to go.25
August 22, 2021One last view before the 2 halves close for the final time.26
August 22, 2021All closed up.27
August 24, 2021Fuselage is now all filled and sanded.28
August 27, 2021I've temporarily PVA glued on the 2 doors.
They stuck out abit so I used masking tape to keep them in place whilst the PVA dried.29
August 27, 2021And the cockpit glazing has been dry fitted for testing!30
August 31, 2021Windows masked.31
September 5, 2021I decided to go for it and put the engines onto the fuselage.32
September 5, 2021Then landing gear and I used Humbrol liquid maskol to blank off the wing inserts.33
September 5, 2021I've added a scratch built antenna to the tail that, from what I can see, is quite unique to the Skyservant.
It wouldn't look right without it!
I think she maybe ready for primer now.....34
September 24, 2021Finally after a while of nothing I managed to find a way to start priming my models again!
I also masked off and painted the Yellow.35
September 25, 2021The black fuselage stripehas been masked and painted.
Touch ups have been taken care of.36
September 26, 2021I've masked and painted the tail yellow.37
September 26, 2021I had to repaint 1 of the black fuselage stripes and I painted the white on the roof.38
September 26, 2021The tyres have been painted.39
September 28, 2021Decals ate on the fuselage.
I have to say it's better than I imagined!40
September 30, 2021WINGS ON!
She's really starting to look like an aircraft now instead of a square ramp with engines and a tail.41
October 3, 2021And she's nearly done!42
October 4, 2021So I've decided to add the "Last Fligjt" decals.
This Is to commemorate that this aircraft is ex Leftwaffe 58+29 which was the last Dornier DO 28 Skyservant to fly with the Luftwaffe.43
October 6, 2021I decided to put the Registration in the Yellow as the decals were slightly yellowed.44
October 6, 2021And She's Finished!!!!!!45
October 6, 2021I'm very happy with the half decent result but more than anything I actually really really enjoyed this build!
I think the enjoyment is worth more than the actual result for me!
