I'm in. I have a corsair on the bench now also, are you reading my mind? Model master has both green zinc chromate and yellow zinc chromate, already mixed and another one called interior green. Most U.S. aircraft prior to the late 50s used zinch chromate yellow If I remember my references correctly,Especially Repbulic aircraft.

Looking good by the way. That is what I did to my Hellcat, only I did not have to carve anything away just add. Just had to make it fit.

Aaaah!
I`m reassured now!
You have chosen a real kit now, and changed your focus to a modern engineered model 🙂 🙂 🙂
This kit is not that relict of the late Neolithic Aera like your Testors Kraftei, and you can change now your stone tools with metal files and knifes.... 🙂 🙂 🙂
I`ll stay tuned and take place to follow your project!

a first coat of a dark grey underneath the green would have been a benefit..anyway, looking forward to the progress

Tried something new today...washes with oil paint sometimes freak me out because the pigment is too grainy or I can't get rid of it if the effect is too strong. Washed the tail with yellow and gray ecoline and the cockpit just with the gray....effect is too strong in the picture...but it can be wiped away with a wet brush at anytime

Looking ok to me. I spent my day making brake and hydraulic lines for my Corsair. Haven't gotten to any washes yet. I'm being slow on this one.LOL

Mmmm, it`s a little bit difficult to determine the effect on the picture!
Didn`t hear about Ecoline before!
What brand is it??

Royal Talens....it's an art supply.....It's been toned down since the pic was taken...If this doesn't work out I can always try the MIG or Vallejo Washes

Finally got some time at my bench again. My private life and work have been getting in the way big time....the Corsair is all but built now and after some more sanding (yes even on Tamiya kits) I can contemplate the colour...
I want it to look look slightly worn, so I was thinking a satin coat instead of a gloss coat. In one of the pics I attempted to overspray the blue with the same colour mixed with a light grey (and mixed down a little) but I find the effect is too subtle...will have to try that again.
I'm building it with one wing up and one down so now I can experiment a little with the finish on one wing....wish me luck!

Decals went on today (pic made with my phone, not too great) they need some more softener to really settle in the panellines and I applied the roundels on the side a tad too low.....still thinking about wheatering as this unit never saw action in WWII

Did some small jobs on the corsair, the baby is finally relaxed enough to allow me some bench time again. Forgot to take pictures of anything other than the exhaust stains and the centerline tank (that's sleep deprivation for you right there 😉 )....but the good news is that the baby is letting me (us) relax again!

Real nice video. I kind of liked the Music. You dont see too many clip wing Corsairs very cool.
