Looks like the installation of a new boiler... but is the very first shell of the 'Trevithick', the first steam locomotive....
The vintage kit doesn't appear to be bad and quite well thought out, only the plastic material in an unhealthy-soapy looking green plastic made me a little uneasy. But it will be fine! 🙂
I'm really looking forward to the next steps - a highly interesting and refreshingly different topic!

The main assemblies have now been completed. Care must be taken here to clean up the numerous ejection marks and the many moulding protrusions, but that's the only thing holding it up 🙂
The colours on the parts shown are, apart from the primer with black acrylic paint, Alclad II metal paints, namely Gunmetall, Steel... and above all Alclad ''Panzer Grey''. Traces of various shades of pastel crayon brown have been applied on top with a dry brush.

Hello Rene, the seat is happily yours, but the show is already over 🙂
I am proud to present you the completed 'Trevithick'! It was great fun taking photos of this gearwheel, linkage and flywheel work of wonder. Please excuse the resulting large number of pictures.
This time Alclad paints were used for the colour scheme, but not only from the metal range: what you see here is Alclad's 'Panzergrau' primer, together with 'Gunmetal' and 'Smoke' and similar shades. I have replaced the plastic parts for the push rods with metal bars. I hope you like the result as much as I enjoyed building it!

Nice result Roland.
I was wondering how they added more coal to the boiler when the tender is so far away and the boiler door is under the pistons.

Thank you very much, mates! This is highly appreciated and motivating feedback! I'm glad to have ventured into an area new to me; the kit, for all its age, has charm and possibilities 🙂 Your words really make me very happy!

.... and Gorby: You're absolutely right! The layout of the loading and coal tender also seems puzzling to me 🙂

I had a look into this and it turns out the original company who produced this kit got it wrong:

Goodness! You wouldn't want to get your fingers (or hair) trapped in the moving parts!!

Nice build, Roland, I'm enjoying the sound-track to the video, whilst admiring your model 🙂

Thank you very much for sharing this great video! Yes, Bruce, a highly dangerous device, and a highly illustrative demonstration of it too

Didn't airfix have a similar kit in the 60s under the name Museum Series?

I have just finished Anthony Burton's 'Richard Trevithick: Giant of Steam about Trevithick's biography - what a fascinating character he must have been! Cornwall at that time must have been a rough place... Thank you, Williams, for your words!
