Starting the build! It's a lot simpler than the Golf!

Build is going okay so far but it's not wonderful. The mold is pretty rough so there's a lot of edge sanding required. I don't think it's changed since the early 80s because there's a copyright from 1982 on the bottom plastic plate. That copyright mark is visible which is annoying. And then the way some pieces are put together forces signs of construction in various places which makes things appear sloppier than they should. See one of the process photos for an example. 3 of the 4 wheels snapped into place but one didn't and I had to glue it which, of course, compromised the model's ability to roll. And the instructions often have you paint things that are then completely obscured by parts in subsequent steps. For example the face of a part that is interior to the tire was to be painted silver. I suppose that I could have scrutinized the instructions more closely but only a bit of QA work should have picked this up. Revell's recent Golf GTI (see my other builds) was so good and smooth that I expected the same from this kit. But I think it's an old kit and hasn't seen updates in a long time. But - hey - still enjoying myself. Onward!

Build complete! Overall it was a bit of a grind because it was an old tool and parts didn't fit together very nicely and needed tweaking. The instructions were rough... I'm happy with the outcome though.
