Roland Sachsenhofer....dies is the second Ju 290 built in parallel in German markings from spring 1945.
My ambitions to liven up the cockpit with scratch/improvisations are limited to the front, later visible area.

Roland SachsenhoferThe Ju 290 in original colours will stand on the landing gear- and poses here in front of the second, "flying" aircraft. All in all, the two aircraft need quite a lot of space. A lot of it, in fact 🙂

Roland SachsenhoferA little adventure: when I saw this Ju 290, I noticed that the left undercarriage might have a "flat" - and that without any tyres! 🙂 The left wing was hanging down too far, I might have installed this landing gear leg a little too low, well, enough to cause this effect. As a solution I cut off the undercarriage leg and inserted a one millimetre wide intermediate piece - with wire at the top and bottom as an anchor. Tomorrow I should start the colouring of the Ju 290 in parallel with the second machine.

Roland SachsenhoferNow things are getting colourful: once the preshading is finished, there is always an opportunity to discover and correct mistakes and scratches. Hence the new filler marks on the C-stand of the machine.

Roland SachsenhoferA few steps further: the paints are applied to the fuselage and wings, everything is shiny and ready for the decals. When this is done, the next work awaits in the form of numerous small parts; but all in all, I am already looking forward to the final assembly!

Roland SachsenhoferThe decals are up, the surfaces are sealed so I can run the gloss down tomorrow to get to a usable appearace. After that I'm looking forward to the exhaust traces - a nice complex matter with the Ju 290!

Roland SachsenhoferThe first Ju-290 can now consider itself finished. This morning I was able to take a few pictures, which I would like to show you here as a conclusion to the construction report. In my opinion Revell has done a great job here! With a little care you get a quite impressive model of a quite impressive aircraft! The antenna forest comes from the corresponding Eduard etched parts set; whether using it is really a big advantage I don't know, but attaching it is a good finger exercise in any case. Thank you for all your motivating interest! Now on to the flying edition of this mighty aircraft...
