This is going to be huuuge...

When I get a Takom kit, I always wonder why painting and decalling schemes cannot be printed bigger... 

These are NOT wings' parts - actually these will form the horizontal empennage 

Generally, the engineering looks good, but... please notice the gun barrels and the "front gunner station"... 

 

Transparencies are flawless and crystal clear... 

...but overly thick. 

Streaks installed, their actual shape is not exact when compared with real stuff, yet it would be difficult to correct them without destroying the detail on hull...  

Some progress here... 

I put the Cessna in 1/144th (from Mikrowings) just for size comparison... 

I am sure none of you would resist 😉 

Cockpit painted 

and installed 

even though not much will be visible through the windscreen. (It is just put in its place to check fit - as you can see, I decided to remove gun barrels, to be substituted with pieces of hypodermic needle) 

Just as I was going to install portholes and close the rear fuselage I noticed sinked polistyrene areas 🙁 As you can see I decided to correct the shape of the streaks.  

Main parts of the hull glued together - who would expect that puttying... 

I could not resist correcting the shape of the streaks... 

Dry fitting again 😉 

Engines' gondolas and missile tubes dry fitted, just to get the idea of the final look 😉  

I had to reconstruct a hatch, since it was lost during sanding. 

Who would expect such irregularities here. 

And here. Nevertheless, it seems that remaining parts will need much less puttying and sanding. 

The portholes' diameter is 2,5 mm, and there are 16 of them total. Since I have no appropriate tool to cut such circles from masking tape I used pieces of sharpened brass tube...the durability of which was quite limited. Perhaps it would be easier to use KristalKlear here, but few ot the portholes are not flat 🙁 

Surprisingly enough both halves of horizontal empennage were not level with each other when installed - some diligent sanding and rescribing was necessary here... Yes, this is the horizontal empennage 😉
