The new project in 1:144 has taken its start; no clear parts on this, I will paint them over and use decals instead.

No, not even these... I'm quite definite about that. The Austrian markings will look better that way.

A smooth nose one, if you follow this link: the fifth from above! caracalmodels.com/cd144014.html

I have two in the stash. It may be too late, but there ARE wing spars in the kit. For some reason they do not call them out in the directions. Makes fitting the wings much easier from what I have read.

Donald, thank you; I recognized them, but I'll drill a hole and attach a brass tube to stabilize the wings. That seemed easier to me than cutting rectangular holes for the wing-spars through the thick plastic of the fuselage half.

I have those decals as well. I am torn between doing 2,3 and 4. One of those will not get done. LOL
Not a bad idea with the brass rod. I will keep that in mind once I get around to doing one.

I am glad that marking and approach meet with your appreciation! Soon there will be new pictures

Is it for laughs or for tears? The fit on the engine nacelles seems rather gruesome. I use the cyanoacrylate gel as filler, which is sanded after curing.

From grey to glossy black: the Globemaster is now ready for the first layer of Alclad - and for a few touch-ups, the need for which makes the glossy finish visible!

Indeed! As it does in Alclad "White Aluminum", managed to get a first layer of it on the surfaces today.

The Alclad surfaces have been finished so far, next step will see wingtips and tailplane being painted with "dayglow". I am really looking forward to that!

Surfaces have been prepared for decals. Meanwhile I am dealing with the propellers, some rather delicate work with masking, paint and decals! 🙂

What a colourful mix of materials as sheet metal, well done! Which orange paint did you use? Looks nice 👍

Many thanks for your feedback! It is a pleasure and motivates! For the "Dayglow" I used Gunze H-14 "Orange" after having it compared it with Vallejo's "Dayglow". The Gunze color seems to me to be more appropriate and in any case much less capricious in its application.

Thanks you Roland! I want to build a Tornado in Flight Test livery, the decal and the kit are in my stash already, but I'm not sure about the orange color 🙂 [img1]

Very cool! I am looking g forward to that!!
My "orange past" includes, for example, the Saab Safir or the VJ 101C X-1, where Vallejo's "Dayglow" on an acrylic base was used.
If you want, take a look at it for comparison. To me, they both seem both quite similar and useful when it comes to getting a bright orange.

A few pictures with all the decals and an sealing coat of Gunze clear on. I am hopeful to get that little giant on it´s own feet this week.

Not only a A380 is a doubledeck 🙂 You selected the nicest possible marking 👍

Thanks for your kind and generous feedback mates! Now it is mainly a matter of joining the subassemblies together- and of getting exhaust stains in a scale appropriate way on the cowlings!

That' s it! The little giant made it to the finish line - and he gave me a lot of pleasure. I would like to point out the three self-made windshield wipers 🙂 They are among the finest that my tweezers have ever moved. The combination of the Roden model and Caracal decals has proved to be a very good one. I am glad about the colourful version; I hope you like the pictures, too.
Thanks for your interest and the really very motivating comments!

Lovely, looks very Fallout-ish to me (gamers will get it😉 ), wondering how big it is after completion.

Thank you Lukasz, Alex and Daniel for these kind comments! Pencil and coin are intended to give a impression of how big it is- or are you interested in length in centimeters Lukasz?

Thanks, I think this is good enough. Somehow I thought it would be much bigger 🙂

That sounds good, Lukasz- thanks! 🙂 🙂 Dear Bughunter, I am sure that you of all people can answer this question! 🙂
