EA-6B Prowler assigned to VAQ-129 Vikings, c. 2011
(Hasegawa EA-6B in 1/72 scale, kit #1137 c. 1979)
Depicts EA-6B BuNo 160609 (EA-6B -70-GR ICAP I, MSN P66), of VAQ-129 in legacy markings to celebrate the Centennial of Naval Aviation (NA100). Aircraft was painted in markings representative of early 1942, about the time of the Battle of the Coral Sea. 160609 was donated to the National Museum of Naval Aviation, Pensacola, Florida and placed on display at NAS Jacksonville in December 2012.
Kit was purchased as a new release 40-plus years ago and rescued from the stash of doom in 2019. Kit was without instructions or decals, but otherwise complete. Colors are PollyScale Non-Specular Blue-Grey (M-485) over MM Acryl Light Ghost Grey (FS36375). Radome in MM Acryl USN Haze Grey (FS36270). Decals were designed and laser-printed at home (because the Two-Bobs sheet is out of production!).
