I recently had an interesting variation of a close encounter of the third kind- no, it was not an UFO.
This flying object is well known, but not all to often seen.

Swiss Ju-52 „HB-HOS" made a three day visit to the „Weiße Möwe Wels". From the aerodrome Wels near Linz the „Tante Ju" took off for several pleasure flights, duration around an hour, leisurely sightseeing the Salzkammergut and flying unhurried around lake Traunsee,making the passengers on bord as, I assume, the interested observer on the ground a good time.
On July 13th I had the pleasure to get a ride for my wife , my father, who shares, by the way, the year of birth with this aircraft , and me.

Main impressions oft he flight have been: not much place to move and sit, the corrugated aluminium you see is the very same corrageted aluminum you see from outside, the noise level is so high you can hardly speak to each other.
Three BMW radials with 800 PS each make an very impressive sound, a sound you can feel all the time in your stomach. During flight, the Ju was vibrating and shaking,
I was impressed by the hard physical work pilot and co had to do. Not only during start and landing they had to constantly trim and adapt power settings.

After landing there was oppurtunity for an ample walk around, here some pictures from „HB-HOS".
The facial impression of this excited young gentleman makes obvoius: he still feels the rumbling of three times 800 PS!

Hallo Holger, schau mal, hier gibt es, auf "denglish" geradebrecht, ein paar Schilderungen zum Flug.
Es war die "HB-HOS" aus Dübendorf, kam übrigens mit Passagieren von dort angeflogen. Beeindruckend war es, in der Tat!

Was übrigens auch noch sehr schön rüberkam, war das ständige Gieren und Schieben des ganzen Flugapparats.

Ach ja das ist herrlich. Ich hatte mal nen Flug mit der D-AQUI hier auf der Insel. Allerdings war ich noch recht jung... 15 oder 16. Da hab ich es noch nicht so richtig würdigen können...

Herrliche Aufnahmen! These clips are pure delight, the sound is incredible! At last- and not least: the roaring sound of aircraft engines in the off stimulate imagination further...
I did already have plans for the Hahnweide event the years before- next season I will be there, for sure!

Hallo Roland, tolle Bilder. Ich war die letzten 3mal ebenfalls auf der Hahnweide (60km entfernt) und muß nach anfänglicher Skepsis sagen:
1.Es lohnt sich garantiert und 2. Es ist näher als Duxford!

Moin Roland , Gratuliere , solche Erlebnisse muss man sich einfach gönnen , das Gefühl , mit so einer Blechdose in den Himmel zu steigen , das Langsame , das Geräuschvolle , das kann man bei keinem Modernen Flugzeug haben , weder Airbus noch Piper , selbst eine Wilga , die auch sehr laut ist , bringt nicht das Gefühl eine Oldtimers vor 1945 ,, Gratuliere 🙂, bei der An 2 scheiden sich vielleicht die Geister , die hat ja was Eigenes , für mich war sie aber von 16 - 21 Jahren das standart Absetzflugzeug , also Gewohnheit , ansonsten kenne ich nur den Storch im Original, von Dirk Bende stationiert in Bonn , und einmal hatte ich bei Sonthofen das Glück ,in einer Bücker Jungmann platz zu nehmen 🙂
