The filler was coarsely sanded (80 grit) to remove isolated peaks, a slight depression in the area of the planned runway was filled again, the agricultural/cycle path was glued on using sandpaper and the bottom of the lake was covered with bird sand and glue.

The figures come already painted, typical of H0 railway models. Unfortunately, they are neither deburred nor have ejector- or sink marks filled.

The boat is not deep enough in the water for its load, so I removed about 1.5 mm of material from the bottom.

The surrounding area is prepared with colored structural paste from art supplies, the runway was engraved and painted gray.

The runway was made of stone slabs. The plan is to have a very worn look, with some dirt in the depression as well as broken paving slabs and light grass growth around the edges.

The environment is customized with various oil paint washes. The higher areas are a little brighter, the deeper and wetter areas are a little darker and in the bank area also a little greenish to represent algae.

There are also reed plants from eduard on the bank that are supposed to stand in the water. When the adhesive has hardened, resin can be poured in to represent water.

Last weekend I poured the the lake water from resin. Unfortunately, I trusted the advice at the hardware store regarding the resin. The processing time, not the curing time, is 5 hours, the curing time is 2 weeks.

Unfortunately, the diorama wasn't completely sealed either, so I had to put aluminum foil underneath to avoid a huge mess. When everything has hardened, resin residues must be removed from the bottom and sides so that the frame looks good again and the Dio no longer wobbles.

Due to the problems with the resin not hardening, I started again with the base plate. The rear plate is glued into the picture frame again with PVA glue.

The adhesive residue on the back has been sanded off again. This time I also sealed all the joints with 2 thick layers of PVA glue. Hopefully it will be tight this time.

I glued in the tiles for the runway with Beli-Zell, an adhesive that foams up slightly as it dries, giving the tiles a slightly irregular height.

Light brown washes are applied to the slightly higher areas, while darker brown and green-brown tones are applied to lower-lying areas and in the lakeside area. I have also started grouting the runway.

To do this, the glue residue that had filled the joint was first removed, filled with fine bird sand (brushed in with a brush) and fixed with diluted PVA glue. When this layer had dried, the entire runway was coated with diluted PVA glue and sprinkled with bird sand. After this layer had also dried, the excess sand could be removed with the help of an old stiff brush and a small spatula, so that it can only be found in the areas where it naturally accumulates (sunken pieces of the tiles).

The reeds from Heki are too high. So I cut away the lower third. Otherwise it looks nice and is the cheepest of the 4 reeds I got.

If you use one type of static grass after another, you can collect the excess on a piece of paper and pour it back into the bag. The size comparison shows that this is worthwhile even with the relatively small area I have.

In the reed-area most of the low vegetation, made from dried moss from the local woods, is installed. Setting the reeds takes some time for drying. If one trys to install to many plants at once, one will flip nearby reeds.

I realized that I had forgotten the couple's clothes. So I roughly cut them out of printer paper, crumpled them up, unfolded them, painted them and glued them onto the diorama.

after a few unsucsessful tries with decals for the cocpit windows I tried today with paint. The result is not perfect, but I can live with it.

While painting the Windows I broke of one float from the 2nd plane, witch ended with the carpet monster. So preparing a new float (I got parts for 4 spare planes and 2 spare PE sets)was nessesary. Thats the only reason this project isn't finished.

Thanks for watching. I'm not entirely sure what will happen myself, but it will be some kind of diorama with a RC-Airfield and a lake. The not sure part mostly relates to how deep the lake will be and whether I need an additional frame or can I get by with my usual picture frame.

The planes are ready to paint, the lake is redy for the water, about half of the figures are cleand up, but that is a good job for afrer work when I usually get just about 15-30 minutes for modelling per day.

A short update:
The diorama is currently at a standstill because I made a mistake when weighing the resin. The resin is still sticky, but is currently on the radiator to dry (not to cure). I hope that when the resin is halfway solid I can fix the problem with another layer.

Due to the problems with the resin not hardening, I decided to start the base plate all over again. I bought a new picture frame today and have already glued the plywood panel in place. Of course I will try to salvage as many parts as possible from the first attempt, e.g. the bridge and the reed plants from Eduard.

Before that, a few washes need to be applied to make the ground more interesting and the aquatic plants need to be added. @Thomas: 1/72 ist mir eigentlich auch lieber, aber als ich die Figuren gesehen habe konnte ich nicht wiederstehen.

Hi Łukasz, thanks for the Idea. I will use an Instruction, scale it down and cut the decals from an "Balkenkreuz" decal from the sparesbox.

Today I tried again with the water. My diorama seems to be tight this time, although the water level has also dropped this time. Hopefully everything will be hard too. But I won't be able to say for a few days. There won't be any pictures until then, unfortunately the diorama can't be moved at the moment.

Thanks Jennifer. This Time it worked better. There is still some internal leakage, as the water level droped about 3 mm over night, but there is no resin on the outside. The resin-residue in the mixing container is after 26 h harder than the first try after 2 month. But with about 5 days cureing time I'm not totally sure yet.

Since I didn't get to build last weekend due to a hand injury and my visit to the exhibition, I made some progress on the diorama this weekend. Almost 3 hours of work on grass and reeds, as well as the first flowers and preparations for the first bushes / trees and the place for the couple in the reeds have taken place.

Hi Shar, thank you. The lake isn't done. The floating stuff is there just by acident. I'm going to clean is, add some drifting wood in the reeds and a second layer of resin. Than the 2 boats and all the floating gras can be added and fixed with some water effects. I do it that way for two reasons:
1: I got the leak where resin went missing under the frame and the water level is not high enogh.
2: I hope the resin in the first layer has seald the gaps in the reeds, so the second layer will not "climb" due to the capillary effect.

Last week I worked at the figures, partly repainting with acrylics, and starting modifying everything with oils. Work still in progress. there are 2 figures I don't realy like so far, perhaps that will change after a matt coat.

Most of the parts ar together now. Having trouble with my Printer means the decals for the Windows of the plane are still missing. I also realized today that I forgot to build toolboxes, so I made up for that today.

I'm nearli done with this project. Oll that's missing now is the second Plane witch I managed to demage today. I got the spare perts, bit the paint isn't dry yet. I didn't manage tho get the cockpitwindows from Decals to my liking, so I used paint today. the result is not perfekt but I can life with it.

@ Michael: You are right, normaly most RC plans would crash trying to start or land with a windsock like this,.But there is this funny memory of one guy nearly going mad after we tried an cheaper manufacturer after we hat to replace so many windsocks in the rc club. The material was so stiff, it allways looked like mine. The guy wanted us to stop flying because of the storm, but it realy was just about 1-2 kts windspeed. We chanched back to the old manufacturer as soon as the order arrived. But I always get a bit of a grin on my face wehn I see the Diorame and get remindet of that guy.
