Very nice, Kees!👍
I would recommend to dare more contrast between shadow and light. On the clothes as well as on the face.

Thanks mates and thank you Ulf for the recommendations! 👍
I was actually planning to ask you for some tips, but you already gave them 🙂
To add more contrast is indeed a matter of 'daring'. When I'm painting the contrast sometimes looks 'too much' and then I tone it down a bit... I now have the confirmation that this is wrong! 🙂
I will try to add more contrast in my next figure project, thanks again!

You're very welcome, Kees!
In all modesty I would recommend to take a look into my album of the British Cavalry Major bust. There I showed the steps from defining the different lighting zones (with contrast appearing overdone) to blending the zones into each other which makes the gradient of the tones smoother and leads to a convincing impression of the contrasts.

I will have a look mate!
And when my next figure/bust (or model in general) is better than the last I'm already satisfied 🙂

It will be! There's no other way. 😉 Everyone of us starts from scratch.

Dank je Arne!
Het is wel echt een andere tak van sport, maar hopelijk geldt het gezegde 'oefening baart kunst' ook voor figuren schilderen 🙂

Enough areas to improve, but I want to practice a lot so I'm off to the next figure...🙂
