The "M6A1 Seiran" project isn´t finished without Tamiyas I-400 submarine carrier...
What you can see here is the I-400s hull, being prepared for the paint and the -more or less- finished M6A Seirans. Pitot tube and antenna have been made from stretched sprue, the rest is "oob" 🙂
That comes near to my personal limit of visibility... and the clumsiness of my fingers 🙂

Great work so far! I am slowly building a collection of submarines in 1:350 - from German Uboats to modern nuclear boomers. Have to add I-400 to my list

Hello Sebastian, that´s a worthwhile occupation- good luck with that!
I-400 will be the first of its kind for me, but, I guess, not the last.

How long is it in 1:350? I have a feeling I-400s were pretty large. My next submarine project will be a Type VII U-boat with some aftermarket help

A true giant: 122 meter in reality, 348 milimeter in scale 1:350.
Type VII sounds good. Will we see it here on scalemates?
By the way: congratulations to your superb "Freestyle"! I had the pleasure to see this modell recently on Modellversium.

Looks fantastic. Eager to see how the hull looks with the pre-shading. The float planes look great.

This is a diorama that I would love to make...

Great work, i will still follow

Thank you guys for these motivating words! I wonder which scene you are considering, Aghis... A engine maintenance scene on one of the Seirans would be fine 🙂

I was more thinking about Seiran recovery after patrol, but engine maintenance sounds interesting ! 🙂

Allright... I will think over that. May be fun!

The Tower and hangar unit have just been put togehther and will be glued later. Decks and the hangar structure are just painted, only the hull shows the first signs of my nautical weathering experiments. This will be increased and extended to deck- and tower structures.
The fragile catapult has been built solely from etched parts- a certain advancement to the kits solid plastic parts!

Looking really good!

Hello Sebastian- thank you very much!

It may not look like a lot of work would have been done between the last pictures and this one, but, believe me, whole bunches of tiny etched parts have been attached by tweezer and my watery eye... 🙂 In particular the first attempts to attach the etched railings have been strenuous.
Surfaces have been accented a little bit more; here and there rust and some wear and tear should be visible.

great , does make it very difficult not to get one for myself 🙂

Einfach grandios!

Nice job on that boat. Would you like to display it on a wooden base? The nice result will deserve one! Cheers, Christian

Roland Sachsenhofer
Hello guys! Your words make me quite happy, Thank you! Jan, why would you like to resist? 🙂) A wooden base would be fine, we will see... "Tear and wear" will be increased a little bit further. Especially the triple flaks and similar places will get some extra attention.
The next major session with this submarine bonsai will bring it into the finish.

The submarine carrier project is finished at last! I experienced two quite superb Tamiya kits- and a "first time" in the scale 1:350....
Something which will be repeated!
Hope you like the pictures

Hi Roland, would be great to see some more scale 1/350 ship model in the near future😢 Great job on this subject!

Roland Sachsenhofer
Hello Christian, thank for your encouraging words! I promise there will be a ship model in the future- in the near one of course, more or less 🙂

Great work mate! Would love to see it at our expo and competition in Maribor in January where you are warmheartedly invited!

Hello guys, Thank you for your words- and for the kind invitation, Sebastijan!
I am boldly determined to do some more ship models in 2014.... 🙂

I like the outcome! Very nice!
And i like the link to the "Seiran" (which is outstanding as well). Very interesting.
And I'm curious about more ships in the future ...

Great Sub! This beast is huge compared with the plane on deck. Very well done!
 26 November 2013, 18:39
Roland Sachsenhofer
Hello mates, this sub was quite a pleasurable experience- and I am happy about your words, thank you very much!
Further and rather megalomaniac 1:350 -entertainment has been prepared: HMS Warspite, HMS Hood, HMS Repulse -with a lot of etched parts- are waiting to be put on the workbench....
Christian, indeed a big submarine, about 122 meter long. A beast compared to the 69 meters of a Typ VIIC
