My goodness, does it come with a Haynes Manual? 😉 Looks like a lots of challenges to overcome, but I'm sure the end results will be fantastic!

@Bruce: unfortunately it doesn't. There are some areas where location of parts is not clear. So, if you happen to have a Haynes Manual for this russian harvester, please let me know. 😉

@Ben M: I am happy with the reel too, so I thought I had a run and tried my soldering skills at the access ladder - and failed miserably. Everything that worked so smooth at the reel, would just not work at the ladder (for now 🙂).

Cool project, something different it sure is. Question: in pic 19, is that a magnetic base?

Hi Finn, Alec and Spajaard, nice to have you around.
@Alec: it is not a magnetic base but a ceramic one. It is meant for soldering as it can take any kind of heat.

As much as we love the "normal stuff", I think many people are excited to see something unusual off the trodden path.
Keep up the good work, Michael. 👍
Your PE handling is top, are you soldering the parts?

Hallo Michael.
Sehe das wie Robin, sehr schön mal was anderes zu sehen als immer nur Panzer und Flugzeuge.
Sehr akkurate Verarbeitung der Ätzteile.
Ich werde das hier weiter verfolgen.

Thanx mates for your encouragement and welcome
@Robin: not least to further improve my skills, I wanted to solder particularly the bigger pieces. Soldered they are much more stable and can take some handling. But with some pieces I prefered super glue.
@Jörg: Danke dir, freut mich, wenn Du vorbeischaust
@Alex: the plan is to show it in its natural habitat - meaning harvesting, maybe together with a russian or czech truck. The original idea was to display it with a Cmelak and to build a second one (Cmelak) after I made my life miserable with the first one. But now I feel that the plane will take to much attention from the harvester.

@Bruce: Well actually I did - but that was 31 years ago. 😉 And it was only basic training in high temperature soldering with a flame. So for soldering brass I had to start from scratch. But with practice success is achieved more often. 🙂

Thanx Spanjaard, nice to have you around.
Bughunter, you are absolutely right, as the "grain" I put on for layout purposes is hemp - plumpers hemp - indeed. 🙂 I experimented with it to do the grain, but the fibers are too uneven.

Great build, its very similar to the combine my Dad used in the 70's. My son is harvesting in Claas combine this year thats like a space ship in comparison.

Thanx Mark and Laliscale. Nice thought that this brings on some childhood memories. Concerning safety: when I watch the YouTube-Videos of this machine and look at all the moving parts of the various transmissions, I ask myself how many fingers have been sacrificed to the god of Niva.

Danke Bernd.

Thanks mates for your motivating comments. Nice to see your interest in this niche build.
@Alex. The kit is a bit complex indeed. With that in mind one can only congratulate Snake Model for their very good engineering. Unfortunately instructions are not on the same level. So some experimenting, creativity and research on behalf of the modeller is needed.

Thank you guys for sneeking in and commenting so positively.
Bernhard, I am afraid that Lingen will not be the place to see it as I live in Nürnberg and Lingen is quite a ride from there. In former times - while still living further north - Lingen was compulsory of course. But - maybe I can motivate some other guys from around here...

Thanks Frank (bughunter). Only a few square centimeters are to be done. Then all the spikes will have been planted. Quite a tedious job but I have not found another way then to put them individually one by one.

Here are some pictures of the finished project. Started in May 2022 it took me less than a year to complete. Thus it qualifies as a speed build according to my standards. 😉
It was really moving to see the interest in this build, to read your comments and the likes after you visited. You made this a special experience. Thanks a ton for that.
To me this build was special for another reason too, as it is my first model which in the end really looks the way I envisioned it when I started.
A big Thanks to Snake Model too. This well done kit gave me a really good time.

As I said it before, this turned out to be one of the prettiest dioramas in 1:72 I have seen here lately.
And that is because of different reasons more or less subtle:
#1 Between tanks and jets there is suddenly an agricultural thingy, certainly an eye catcher
#2 The high level and sharpness of detail on the machine
#3 Spot on weathering with a very realistic look and just the right amount
#4 Very beautiful diorama in itself (the figure painting, the wheat, etc.)
#5 ....and the most important one surpassing the previous points is the genuine amtosphere. It feels like in the 70's in a sunny and very hot summer day in some Eastern steppe. Somehow time stands still in a different era, when the notion of tight schedules and constant rushing weren't an issue.

Yes Frank. Thanks for your interest. 🙂 One was a special recognition as Excellent Model 2023 by Civilian Scale Model Building and in the official category "Master-Class: Diorama civilian vehicles" it received a third place. But maybe even more rewarding than the official awards were a few positive personal comments and seeing it being photographed by other modellers. And - last but not least - it came back into my cabinet without damage. 🙂
